Wonderful reaction :) As you surmised,William Hartnell's health would not permit extensive studio work. Originally the story had a much larger role for him,but his wife (who was caring for him) advised that he was very frail, and that it would be better if they could film his scenes separately. He was very anxious to take part;so they built a little set for him to sit in,and he read his lines off of numerous cue cards. It was his last acting role;and he sadly passed away just a few months later.

He actually lasted another couple of years; this was filmed in late '72 and he passed during Tom Baker's first season in '75, so I find it comforting to know he lived at least long enough to see the 'golden age' of the show he helped create.

Oop, yes; correct. It's also nice to realise that his appearance in TheThree Doctors meant that he knew how much the viewers appreciated him.

Ah, that was wonderful! I'd been really looking forward to this all week! I'm not fussed about reactors being "title blind", as it were, as it's not as if people at the time would have been. And this was heavily publicised on its original transmission, of course. But I must admit, it did work well here as a one-off!

Thank you for one of the best reactions to Classic Who yet! As was mentioned above, William Hartnell fully wanted to take part when approached & they were ready to have him play a full on part, but his wife took them aside & said 'he really can't you know'. The scenes were shot from his garage. He sadly didn't live much longer after filming this, but god bless him for being in it & living to see the series he started reaching its first decade (something he apparently predicted). What an absolute legend! He stole the show with 'Oh, so you're my replacements? A Dandy & a clown!' Look out for a legendary photo of him with John Pertwee & Patrick Troughton all in character & taken around the time this was filmed. See you next time for more shenanigans!

The garage thing is an urban myth - Hartnell's scenes were shot at Ealing.

Oh really? Well I know the first scene with him was apparently filmed in his garden. I didn't find it that far fetched to assume he wouldn't have been able to travel, but that's interesting to know.

No, it wasn't shot in his garden, it was done near the quarry location in Rickmansworth. The "done at his house" thing is a fan myth which has somehow sprung up down the years.

Whonderful! (that was a typo - but I'm leaving it as is) I must admit I was completely wrong. When you had mentioned over the past few weeks that some people had asked you to avoid the story title I thought that they were being a bit picky. The reaction to seeing the previous Doctors would be fantastic anyway and I was looking forward to it. But this reaction video was made so much more special by seeing your dawning realization of what was about to happen prior to each of the Doctor's appearances. Thanks.

BTW I needed to watch along with the Original release version rather than the Special Edition (Revisitations 3) version of the episodes because the Special Edition wouldn't stay in sync with the full reaction audio. [The Original version has the double zoom-in to the UNIT soldier at the end of Episode 2.] I am using my DVDs. I don't know what versions are available on streaming services. Anyway, this might give someone an alternative to try if they're also having audio sync issues.
