I love how the episode felt very Twilight Zone by way of Heaven Sent. It also brought to mind a line from the third Matrix film, “It is remarkable how similar the pattern of love is to the pattern of insanity.” I love that they got both Rachel McAdams and especially Tilda Swinton to come back for this show. I would have loved to have seen Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius again, but ah well. I’m with you on relating with Strange on being a control freak and how coupled with the power available to him it’s easy to lose one’s way. It’s like how they describe Hawkeye on M*A*S*H, “When it comes to death, he’s a sore loser.” The fight between Doctor Strange and, let’s call him Darth Strange, was very impressive. The scenes with Uatu were surprising. I’m curious to see if they continue with more scenes of him interacting with the other characters or if he’ll mostly be the man behind the curtain. Personally, I’m fine with whichever route they take with Uatu.

I think Benedict Cumberbatch did voice work for The Penguins movie.. but I KNOW for sure he did the animated Grinch movie and also Smaug on The Hobbit. This is one of my favourite "What If.."s and the ending reminded me of a Black Mirror ending, specifically the White Christmas episode with Jon Hamm.
