I've been rooting for this series for a while, since your reactions to animals being in danger are always spectacular. This first movie actually wasn't attached to the Planet of the Apes franchise at first, but the studio guys quickly realized that it easily could be with just some minor revisions in a way that would immediately get people's attention. And we can be very thankful for that, because these movies kick all kinds of ass, and all in very different ways.

I was kind of bummed about that myself. Particularly because I know Jess really wants to see the live action Disney movies. Alas, maybe next time.

The viewer is absolutely supposed to be rooting for the apes, don't feel conflicted! Andy Serkis is incredible as Caesar, his performance gets even better than this.

I'd say a decent start to the trilogy. I think with Caesar you're kind of meant to be in in a middle ground on weather or not to root for him, albeit you lean towards rooting for him. Regardless, Andy Serkis was impressive as usual. There needed to be a lot more of Brian Cox in this movie than there was; that man is so beyond underrated. Malfoy took me out of the movie, especially when he quotes the original film. I have no idea where the series is going to go either but I'm sure it will be interesting.

I have also been hoping this series would win for a while. I actually have not seen it yet but have always been interested in it. Now that it won I am watching along with you, though I may watch the next two before next month. I quite enjoyed this one and can't wait to see what happens next.
