Fun fact! I did my senior work on the origins of the dark, dark fairy-tales, and they still even kept it fairly light -- see what I did there? But it is a great episode. There is abbbbsolutely no chance Dean ain't familiar with at least the sanitized versions. That motherfucker's lying through his teeth for macho ego-protection and teasing material. Even when he held the apple, it seems he kinda had it figured in his head. As for their conflict, it's so unfortunate because all Dean has to really do it come together with Sam since neither of them want the other to die, yet only one isn't seeking a solution for the good of both. I understand it's partially fear for Sam's safety... but man... As you said, that's a tough situation to put someone into if you mind the golden rule. Love the banter regarding the fairy-tale stuff! And oof, Sam is sooo lucky our doctor saw her before or that would have been so much more awkward. And that scene with our "pig" in the hospital and the ridiculous drawing! Somehow both poignant/tragic and hilarious. And kind'f parallel that he had a fight with his brothers before they died; I never considered the thing you mentioned about the coma being an extended goodbye. Maybe that's why Sam was there and not out in the action ( aside from the fact that's more his specialty ). Also happy birthday to the mums! Hope she's having a great day as well.
