The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Reaction - Google Drive

Tolkien actually never told anyone which two of the many towers in Middle Earth the title referred to, and the film's portrayal of them being the allied towers of Sauron and Saruman is just one of many theories that have popped up over the years.

It really warmed my heart to see your reaction to Gandalf's return. At least in regards to the people I've discussed this with, Arwen Liv Tyler's character is generally speaking not terribly popular. I had a feeling you would gravitate toward Éowyn and regarding her not fighting, without giving away specifics, that issue is rectified in the final film. I realize I'm biased as Sir Christopher Lee is one of my top 3 favorite actors, but I honestly do believe he is the most perfectly cast as Saruman, he's so phenomenal in all three Lord of the Rings films as well as the two Hobbit films that he appeared in, but here especially he reaches a new level, it's insane just how good he is. I'm reminded again just how much is left out of the theatrical versions, for instance there are a few scenes of Faramir who yes is played by as you put it "the dad from Iron Fist" that better establish his backstory and motives thus making him a more well rounded and sympathetic character, which to be fair is probably why the scenes were cut in the first place. That speech that Sam gives at the end is still one the very best scenes of all six of these films. I love that you love Sam. Now I wish it was December I'm dying to see your reaction to The Return of the King. I foresee it being a very very terrific reaction.

And they were initially even going to have Arwen join the elves fighting at Helm's Deep, as they felt antsy about having the trilogy's major romantic couple spending an entire film never seeing each other. And the fan response when the rumors got out was exactly what you'd expect, which probably played a role in them ultimately deciding against it.

I'm kind of on the fence regarding Arwen at Helm's Deep. On the one hand, I am somewhat curious as to how that would have turned out and it would have given Arwen something to actually do in the latter two films, but by the same token, I get where the fans were not happy with the idea and I concede that it's probably for the best that it didn't happen.
