A thought occurred while I was at work today: in the past episodes the Doctor is shown to have the same physical attributes as time lords, two hearts etc. and it has been established that time lords can change species upon regeneration. Maybe I'm completely wrong about this, I probably am, but what if when the Doctor regenerated into the boy who would become One, it was the first time the Doctor physically became Gallifreyian thus becoming the First Doctor, and the high council of Gallifrey, in an effort to maintain the lie going forward, implanted the idea that the Doctor was always from Gallifrey and he/she would subconsciously choose to keep regenerating into a Time Lord?

I loved this finale (Disclaimer: I love Jodie's Doctor) and though we didn't get a lot from the companions, what we got was gold. Also, I am in love with Sacha's Master. He's a complex lunatic filled with rage and despair and wants to destroy everything just so the pain will go away. His scenes with Jodie were absolutely magnetic. He even managed to have on-screen chemistry with a Cyberman and that takes some doing.
