Ooooh, it’s midnight in the UK so this is gonna be terrifying, but I’m looking forward to it! :D

Just finished, that was fun! This movie is definitely one you can watch over and over again, and catch new hints towards the main plot every time. Genius writing, and great acting throughout, it's a genuinely unnerving film. I'm very excited to see what Jordan Peele does next, I really hope whatever it is can live up to how awesome this film was!

That was an absolute joy. Such a fun reaction, such a great film. This being the second time i saw Get Out, i was keeping an eye open for subtleties that i missed the first time around. The cotton. Not wanting the cop to see Chris' ID. "I don't answer to anyone." Here's what i like best about Get Out: It is quite possible to enjoy it on a superficial level as simply a great thriller/horror/comedy, but Get Out really has stuff to say, and is incredibly well thought-out. The themes and issues presented in the script, and on screen, are huge and complex and sometimes laid out to us in astonishing simplicity. When Rod (the film's secret weapon, for me at least) pops his head out of the police car at the end, we're really happy to see him. But our relief comes from the fact that it's not a white cop, because sadly... there's an issue. And it's only the tip of the iceberg in the film. All held up by Daniel Kaluuya's amazing and genuine acting. I think i could write for hours about Get Out, but hey, i'm a white guy living in sweden. I have no illusions about really knowing what it's like being black in america. I'd like to think i know a smidge more after seeing Jordan Peele's amazing debut feature, tho. I can't wait to see what he does next.

For me the best part of this movie is all the nuances and symbolism in the movie, I actually wrote an essay on it! Some examples : 1- when the cop asks for ID , rose says no; not because she’s sticking up for him , but she doesn’t want a paper trail 2- only Chris goes to check if the deer is ok , showing empathy , Rose does not 3 - Georgina spills the iced tea because Missy accidentally clinks a spoon against a glass, sending her into a brief hypnosis 4- On the tour, Dean remarks, "We hired Georgina and Walter to help care for my parents. When they died, I couldn't bear to let them go." There's a pronoun antecedent slip here, and it's on purpose. He couldn't bear to let "them" as in his parents, not Georgina and Walter. 5- Walter, who we know is really Dean's father, is probably running because he never got over his loss to Jesse Owens in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. 6-“The sunken place" can be seen as a metaphor for the paralysis people of color feel in racial America. 7- Chris's cell phone camera gives him his first insight into the mystery of Logan's strange behavior. Cell phone footage has been instrumental in shedding light on police brutality cases in America in recent years 8- when Chris rips the stuffing from the chair he is literally being forced to “pick cotton” 9- The image of Rose eating Froot Loops and milk separately can be seen as a metaphor for never mixing nonwhite and white things 10- Jeremy foreshadows his own death when he talks about jujitsu over dinner. Chris stays "moves ahead" when they're grappling and finally overpowers him.

This was a really interesting read, George! I spotted a few of these watching it for the second time, but you definitely enlightened me on a few. Thank you :)

I feel like the deer at the start was like a bad Omen for Chris to realize lol and a warning for whats to come and that could become him..Let alone him actually sitting in that chair and seeing a deers head mounted on the wall towards the end. The picking cotton part was interesting cuz it literally saved his life lol..The crazy part to me also was when they reveal that woman and tall man were the Grandfather and Grandmother in those bodies from the original video that plays during "Phase 2" of the procedure..It was the Grandfather that abducts the first guy(Andre I think his name was) in the opening scene.

Loved your reaction. What a great movie. If you haven't watched it yet, it'd be really cool to see your movie reaction to Django Unchained. Another fantastic movie.
