And he played the President of the USA in the GI Joe film series.

The man who plays the Master is also Elizabeth's father in Pirates of the Caribbean

Yes, this was a Doctor Who Parody done for charity in the late 90s, while Doctor Who was off the air - Moffat's first TV work for Doctor Who. :D Everyone participating are somewhat famous actors, yes, even if not all of them are recognizable now and outside of a British context. I think you might actually recognize the Master from Game of Thrones! It's the High Sparrow! I'm glad you seemed to have enjoyed this. I was a bit worried, especially if you were going in not knowing at all that it was a parody. But you seemed to get around to it pretty fast, and enjoy the silliness of it. :) (In the Behind the Scenes for this, Moffat and the producer - who went on to write Vincent and the Doctor! - talk about the possibility of a female Doctor and both agree that it could happen some day. Fun fact.)

I had never seen that before. I laughed quite a bit. I thought it was made recently with old school look which I loved. I loved the set, cheap GoT comparison was on point. The end was so off putting though (IMO),for something made recently so I had to IMDB it to see when it was made. It was made in 1999 but seemed older considering how they handled the Dr. being a woman. I assume that was the point and part of the joke, but still felt that way.

Does anyone know if the companion is the actress from Coupling?

Jim Broadbent, who also played the Doctor in this skit, is a recent addition to Game of Thrones, playing Archmaester Ebrose. The Curse of Fatal Death should really be tailor made for me. It's a Doctor Who parody with lots of british actors i love, written by my favorite DW writer, but i just watch it sort of bemused. Almost all the jokes falls flat for me.

Her name is Julia Sawalha, and as far i i know she was never on Coupling. She was, however, on Absolutely Fabulous, as was Joanna Lumley who played the female Doctor here.

Jim Broadbent (The 11th Doctor in the skit - the older gentleman who was shy) played Harry Zidler in Moulin Rouge! if you've ever seen the movie. I believe he's also been in Game of Thrones as well. Joanna Lumley (the 13th Doctor) is best known for playing Patsy Stone in the British TV comedy "Absolutely Fabulous".

If anything, the jokes in 'real' Moffat Who are much funnier.

Miles Macdonald

You should also react to Doctor Who: The Ballad of Russel and Jullie, The Call the midwife/Doctor Who Comic Relief and The David Tennant and Catherine Tate Comic Relief.

To add to the list of Jim Broadbent credits, he'll be turning up as Horace Slughorn in the later Harry Potter movies.

Dave Ford

Not to mention the high Sparrow from GoT - and, my favourite performance of his, Sam Lowry in the brilliant and epic Brazil.

Stephen Ray

That was one way to spend some time. Obviously things were different back in the 90s.
