I’m again going to talk about how youtube somewhat/half spoiled me with the big reveals in this episode. Namely how looking back on it some, I’m glad that I didn’t get the one half spoiler until after the fourth episode as that had the biggest red flag about Hank. That the Ghoul recognized Lucy’s name. And it’s mentioned in the pilot that the Ghoul has been in the ground for thirty years prior to the start of the main body of the present-day narrative. And assuming that Ella’s age is consistent with Lucy’s, it means that the Ghoul was in the ground for Lucy’s entire life up to that point, even before she was born. So, he would have had to have known her parents. Combined with Kyle’s star power and prominent billing, and in this episode, how the Ghoul in his pointed refutations to Lucy’s professions about her dad that he’s not the Lisan al-Gaib that she sells him as, he likely is a very naughty boy, (which sounds redundant now that I say that out loud,) it paints the most probable picture of Hank’s villainy. A picture that I would have liked to have not had semi-confirmed by youtube before the big reveal. It really does feel like how you describe when it happens to you, Jess, that whilst it may or may not entirely ruin the experience, it sours the authentic reaction and surprise, thus, I again am very glad that the big reveals of this show remained completely unspoiled for you until the end.
