Very little to add to everyone else's comments. One of my Top 5 TNG stories. Melinda Snodgrass, the writer (who,imo,should have written FAR more for TNG) was actually uncertain about submitting this script, but was persuaded to do so by her friend George R.R.Martin, who told her "why withhold a diamond?"
