The Cateans prefer to live isolated in their city far out in the southern Oceans of Akrina. Due to their fish-tail, they are one of the fastest swimmers in Merra and can travel very deep and far into the ocean. 

Lotus was on a vacation on the nearby islands of the reefs of Coral city, not knowing that if she swam too far out, she might disturb some of the Cateans.

She encountered a Catean in heat, searching for a mate, ande before Lotus was able to protest, she go t pullef down with her face pressed in the lewd slit of the creature until she lost counciousness.

She woke up at the reef and noticed her legs were gone - replaced by a strong tail and fin. Her body was covered in a flexible, blueish skin that made the waters around her feel warm and comfortable. 

Unable to make return as she is now, she has to live in the ocean for rest of her life. However, she finds her new body enjoying and fun to have while she works to live in Coral city and one day swim out to explore the ocean.
