yeah, about twitter... (Patreon)

Back in August, I made a decision to close my Twitter, due to a multitude of reasons. Almost all of those were to do with Elon Musk's leadership of the platform.  The thing is, I already backed up on that a month later claiming that I would wait until the end of the year, but that's not going to happen.

This is a lot of words to say; tl;dr, I was wrong, and I'm not deleting my Twitter, at least, for now.

To be clear, my feelings on Musk have not changed. I still think he's grossly incompetent, even more so, given his public meltdown over advertisers leaving the company. I'm also still convinced that eventually, especially with how hard the premium services are being pushed as of late, that I will be forced to either cough up, or to leave the platform unwillingly.

The issue is simple though; there is no replacement for Twitter for someone of my calibre. No site has the audience, nor the features; and it's not like I haven't tried. There are so many issues and problems with every avenue I've explored. It's somewhat pointless to list them all, as some are specific to me, and others are somewhat obvious (Pixiv requiring mosaic censorship, due to Japanese obscenity law, is one of the key ones here.).

For now, my hands are pretty much tied.

If I want to keep people in the loop on my work, I am stuck on Twitter. It is still, annoyingly, the place where most people see my work. And until Musk decides that either NSFW artists are not wanted there, or he simply prices all of us out of key features... what else am I supposed to do?
