Yesterday, early morning, I saw come by, on one of my timelines, that May 25th is actually international Dracula Day. I did not know. You? I thought it couldn't be serious, but it actually is mentioned in several other places as well. I guess it's a thing, be it for probably a small but dedicated crowd.
As a long time vampire fan, who has actually seen the original Christopher Lee movies and possibly all vampire movies after that (good and bad) I thought I should do a more classic Dracula painting once.
I tried to get it done yesterday but it took more time than I hoped for. I did several setups and faces and only now I'm happy enough with it.
I'm late. But the tribute is serious nonetheless.
Dracula, by the hand of Bram Stoker, paved the way for many a vampire turning up after him. Like with werewolves, vampires are, in my personal perception, symbolic for the primal and sensual beast that is present in most humans, more or less, but mostly kept hidden.
