I listened to a Patron who said that he'd like it if I would post older pictures again but in better resolution than initially. I'm not a fan of looking back but I spent a day or two in my archives trying to find something else, which was difficult but not impossible to find, and while out there I found about 115 paintings that I would post again, if I would invest a little more time in them.
Not that they're not good enough. They're just old and my skills did seriously evolve since. Which is pretty nice to learn once in a while.

I found many other oldies too, but I would not work on them again, and I won't repost them either. There has to be something special about them to make this particular cut. Something personal. There may be a story about them.

Here's the first one. This was actually inspired by someone I found on the web. I think it was a suggestion by Facebook. Even though I only saw some really bad quality snapshots, I immediately thought "BOOK" with her (like picture book or comic book. I get that when I see real potential, going way beyond one or two good paintings). One photo in particular was in black&white and way too grainy to be called artistic, but it was spectacular in expression. Only a face, but with such an inspiring expression that I painted this, with that snapshot in mind. I told her about it, showed her the painting I did, asked her to work with me, and she acted most interested and flattered for a while. However, nothing ever came of it. She suddenly ghosted me before an appointment was made, and she appeared again a couple of years later, acted as if she never left and I knew I should stay away from her. So, this painting is not really like that portrait photo. I made something new, but I can't deny it was based on it. The expression still works. :)

I wish the story had a better ending though. :D
