I thought I finished this a while ago and I had it lined up to post too, but I never did post. Little things were not how I wanted them and they started to irritate, just looking at the thumbnail. Now, no painting is ever really finished as there's always something to work on left, but at some point one has to abandon it. However, that's not at all a clear cut point. It's not measurable. It's the point where the artist is happy with it and sometimes that point is moving. Luckily that doesn't happen too often, although looking at older works does show to me that my skills are still improving, which means that I am inclined to work on them again. But that I won't do. I rather look at them as proof that I improved since, which still makes me happy when I look at them. I'm not sure if others see it too, but that does not matter. The way others look at my work is rarely how I see it myself, be it that there are exceptions.
