Here's something I did in sketch very recently when, again, someone claimed to have the wish to become an actual model for me (I mean live in my studio, not remotely by photos as that's not really modeling, right?) but most likely never intended to. She probably was just playing around with the idea in her mind. That happens a lot. For every real model I ever worked with there were probably about 30 like this. I am quicker to distinguish the 'posers' from the real models as I learned to ask the right questions and evaluate the answers that usually get more vague the more specific I formulate my questions, but it always takes much too much time to get nowhere. I can't just categorically decline the offer because some actually mean it.
Making the best of things I try to use the time spent as an inspiration nonetheless, only when the person actually would do well as a model. Here's one of two paintings I showed her just in sketch, to inspire her to prove to me with photos that she was serious. She never did make them of course. And I didn't portray her in this actual painting because that would be sort of rewarding her for being another poseur. Word might get around. Not what I'd like.
I do like how this turned out though.
