Here's what became of the sketch I posted earlier. Tigers are difficult to paint, for me at least, because I don't get to paint them a lot and if I do I don't want to just use a photo and work from that. I like it to be all new because that's what gives it my soul in my opinion. I do look at a whole bunch of tiger photos in advance to see how they're built, striped and how they express themselves. But I don't when  I'm actually painting. I try to construct it from what I've seen and how I know anatomy works. That way it's my tiger and not a depiction of just any tiger. The same goes for most subjects that I do. Only portraits (regular or erotic ones) need more reference because without it likeness can't be achieved.

The Jungle Queen didn't need any reference at all. She just emerged from my imagination and she did that majestically. That's because I know anatomy. I know where everything goes, how it's connected and also how light would hit it (which is actually the most difficult part of anything)
