This is officially the oldest one I had in my Work in Progress folder. It's from 1997 according to the file info and probably the first mermaid I ever did (hence the Zero in the title). I liked the original a lot back then, even had lovely cards printed of it (I may still have a few lying around somewhere) but after a pretty serious work-over, last couple of days, I like it much better now. About the only thing pretty much untouched is the colour scheme. All the rest has been improved upon, better shaped, more subtle and more detailed.
Actually, that's what keeps me going. I can still improve even though many probably won't be able to see the difference really. When I see some of the paintings I did 5 years ago I often see a bunch of things I would do different now. Better too, at least in my perception. Some still hold up though. Those were the foundation for what I do and how I do it now. How's that for an insight in the artists world?

I absolutely love mermaids (navy veteran and all), and the sexier, the better. And this mermaid is spectacular. Absolutely gorgeous.
