Me personally im not going to send my child to a raggedy school full of hooligans ur going into the homeschooling system period. He more than likely doesn't have a criminal record(becuz of the cover up) so he'll be able to study abroad with no problems. (Also the lady that you recognize is the wife from sweet home that was getting abused)

to answer some of your questions young yi cut off contact with si eun because i think she believed bumseok when he said it was her fault. Sooho is in a coma still and i think he’s gonna be in it for a while. I think sooho’s grandma signed that contract because she was either threatened to by bumseok’s dad or she believed they story made up and they tricked her to sign it. but yeah this basically doesn’t have any resolution because in the webtoon this season is the prequel to the main story so this was just a back story for si eun and season 2 (which was just confirmed) will be about him in this new school dealing with this group and the tattooed man at the end and he’s going to unlock his final form now that he has the knowledge and the skills to fight.

Wooo congrats on finishing! I've got many many thoughts. I'm going to making a lot of comparison to the webtoon so bear with me. This season only covers Sieun's backstory, so I'm okay with the ending. When we first meet him in the comic, we have *no* idea why he's ruthless and out here sicking his ballpoint on people. It's not until 30-40 episodes that we learn what he used to be like at Byuksan, where he meets Suho. Suho in the webtoon doesn't fight at all, and Sieun feels powerless to stop Beomseok's bullying. It was slightly worse in the webtoon because Beomseok (and the other bullies) actually push Suho off the school's rooftop and that's how he ended up in the coma. For anyone wondering, no, he hasn't woken up but we do have the promise that he'll live. And the author seems really really attached to Suho as a character so don't lose hope of seeing him again^^ As far as Beomseok, he *did* get away with bullying Suho but Sieun beat the crap outta him 😭 it was actually scary to witness. I do understand Sieun's decision not to hit him and I feel bad for this Beomseok. He was extremely misguided. No one ever thought him how to engage in a healthy friendship. Young Yi doesn't exist in the webtoon so I'm not exactly pressed about her just disappearing. But I think Beomseok telling her it was all her fault hurt her deeply and she didn't want to hurt Sieun by causing more problems for him :( Season two was recently announced! I've seen some people saying they won't watch it if Suho's not in it (which, considering Suho was in 8 of 200+ episodes, is a little unkind). I'm looking forward to it, though! Dude, you're going to love the characters from Eunjang. I won't spoil it but imagine having 5 Suhos (with different personalities ofc). It's going to be awesome. Lastly, the guy with the tattoos on his hands is incredibly important. "The Association" (lmao why did they change it) is basically the story's driving force. I get the feeling we haven't seen the last of Wooyoung (the boxer) or that guy from the Runaway fam. Sorry for the long comment, but it was really fun watching this!!! Loved your Leo pointing meme moment when you recognized the guy from Crash Landing 😂 he's a stinker, but he's aight too.

when the orange light scene showed up and you were so hopeful, I literally said out loud "Oh no Anthony!!" giggling!! I really enjoyed watching this for a second time with you!! I heard rumors that there will be a season 2, and if it does happen, I can't wait!! this was for sure in my top 2 Kdramas for 2022. IDK which I liked better this one or Big Mouth. Park Jihoon as well as all the other actors in this show were so amazing, I honestly cant see anyone else playing these roles as well as they did!!

like people said this drama only covered the backstory (though they made a lot of changes to the original storyline), the main plot of the original webtoon is about organized crime and teen gangs so... season 2 is going to be crazy with the action 😭 i do wonder how the new fight scenes are going to work though since for this drama most of the fight choreography was taken from fights in the present-day plotline in the webtoon. it also feels like the rewriting of sooho in the drama takes a lot after one of the characters in the webtoon (park hoomin, aka "ben" in the translation) so i'm looking forward to see how the writers for season 2 are going to plan this! and since you enjoyed this i highly highly highly recommend you watch d.p. even on your own time. it's made by the same director and you'll see a lot of familiar faces, acting is top tier too.

Sarian Taylor

Omg no I do not want it to end but I am glad you enjoyed the series. The webtoon continue after this story and it is really good. Eunjang Highschool is the ghetto fr and it is much more interesting in webtoon 😭

Wow this show was a roller coaster of emotions and although I can say it was well done I'm definitely feeling you on the unsatisfying parts. I wasn't really concerned or confused about the grandma thing honestly medical debt can be crippling and they probably did not tell her the truth about what happened so if she thinks her grandson collapsed after exercising and a kind benefactor decided to pay his hospital bills it wouldn't really be difficult to trick her into signing some sort of NDA or agreement to never sue with the way legal language is worded she would never even know until it's too late. What did frustrate me is I really wanted to understand the "hero" part of the show title. not to say Si Eun didn't do heroic things, but the fact that all the bullies just got away with it kind of made me feel like he never got the justice of being acknowledged as the hero of this story. Reading the comments that this is a prequel/backstory actually makes me excited for a season 2 because if this is him not even in his final form I'm wondering what kind of enemies he'll have to face going forward and how ruthless he'll become. Of course it's sad cuz he's just a smart kid who wanted to keep to himself and study and this kind of represents a loss of Innocence but sometimes you gotta get rowdy.

Discussion question for Ant or anyone here really but how do you feel about the fact that more and more k-dramas are taken on a seasonal approach? I think overwhelmingly most shows still do the k drama format which is to tell the complete story over a set number of episodes airing back to back but obviously with more shows being on Netflix and the way streaming works the season format is getting a lot more popular. Just curious as to which people prefer

saiintpablo

what made me get into kdramas was the fact that they usually did 1 season and 16 episodes in total and that was ideal for me because most western shows never know when to stop and that was refreshing to me but with netflix taking over kdramas now it seems that they’re trying to milk as much money as possible by splitting into parts when it could have just 1 season and weekly episode releases. Now i’m not saying they haven’t been putting out good shows but i prefer the old format since i noticed certain show’s hype die quicker with the newer format. a plus about this is now i don’t have to wait for episodes to get subbed like the older shows.

anthonytoo

I like seasons, but it might just be because that's what I'm used to. I don't like that most dramas have the same 16 episodes, I feel like some need longer and some don't need to be dragged to 16. That's why I like the short netflix ones or like this because they have a story that isn't dragged out or rushed to meet 16 eps. Full seasons or weekly eps for a short period of time always makes it so it's easy to move on to the next show because of hype, but don't kdramas air like 2-3x a week in korea? That's kinda wild, I think I'd like that than watch one ep each monday for a few weeks.

anthonytoo

Right, I thought Si Eun or one of the friends would grow into this "heroic" figure of sorts, like you said not to demean his actions but the bullies and the ones with power won, that was definitely wack. I'm glad to hear that there's more to this, but also that there was more to this before any hype so it should still be cool! Poor granny, I didn't even think of her being tricked.

anthonytoo

No! So she wants to stay away from them because she believed she ruined stuff... nooo... Looking forward to seeing him in final form though, let me know when its out and we will all watch together.

anthonytoo

I'll be waiting for sure! Definitely enjoyed the acting here too, surprised from Jihoon, I didn't know he acted until this. How was Big Mouth?

Alyson

I really liked Big mouth. It was really entertaining, and a lot more mature than other shows that I had been watching this past year. Definitely recommend it. Jihoon also acts in a drama called At a Distance Spring is Green, that was the first time I had ever seen his acting and it was phenomenal!

Sarian Taylor

It depends. It currently have 228 chapters but when I finished the series, it took me a week to catch up because the story was so interesting and good. you do not need to finish it in one sitting because it is still on going but just give it a try if you can. The webtoon picks up right after the credit scene at the end of the TV series 😊
