Sham Sham

Idk y when I watched it never occurred to me that they would play the actual squid game sooner or later. It always makes me sad how he tried to end the game so he wouldn’t have to kill sang-woo. And ok gramps that was a twist I’m pretty sure no one thought of. But no seriously I said the same thing like man get your ass on that plane. Like ughh why did he have to turn around

Daniela Madrid

My version of how the show should have ended would be that he gets on the plane gets to see his daughter, hangs out with her etc, his ex wife asks him what happened to him cause of his sudden change but even with that he is still thinking about the card and like he finally calls and does that whole I’m coming for you dialogue and while doing that the camera centers in his face and gi-hun looks into the camera and the scene ends there just as he is finishing what he is saying to them. Overall the show was good and I do hope for a season 2. Their is a lot of foreshadowing and symbolism throughout the show and yes his red hair means something.

gihun and sangwoo had been friends since childhood and i think sangwoo sacrificing himself like that was his way of apologizing to gihun and somewhat redeeming himself. i don't think it was completely because of his debt because he could've easily stabbed gihun at the end.

Enjoyed watching the show with you guys! But I don't get why he couldn't have spent some time with his daughter before he did all that. Like he could get killed involving himself in this and then he's going to miss the opportunity to be a father to her which was one of the main reasons why he wanted to survive in the first place! Main characters stay making dumb decisions but I will be excited for season 2.

I'm so mad he didn't go to see his daughter first. Like I get he wants revenge bit plsss you said that after getting that money you would finally be a good dad, smh.

anthonytoo

!!! I really wanted him to... Drop off some cash, tell her you're sorry and do what you can then go back and dismantle the game. It is a big decision though, imagine the weight of KNOWING they're about to have 450 people kill each other while you could attempt to stop that.

I was definitely screaming "get on the plane!"the first time seeing this. It was great rewatching this with you after binging it in a day and a half last time. I think I read that the director said there was no concrete plan for a season 2 and I was looking at this man crazy cuz with that ending and the show's popularity they are definitely doing it so he better get his writer's room ready.

Overall this show was very very enjoyable, everything I could have expected from the trailer. I think since this is the one that "blew up" people have been comparing it a lot to other death game shows that they think were better but for me I just like the genre so I'm all about more shows like this getting greenlit. The character work here was really good there was no character I actually hated since from the outset they made everyone morally grey. Of course some people crossed more lines and you could argue that there's a right and a wrong way to kill someone even in a game about killing but frankly I think that's just something people would want to say to comfort themselves. At the end of the day everyone knew what it was. I would consider gi-hun to have killed as well. even if it wasn't as direct as some others he still participated in the tug of war and the marbles game even if he was distraught about it. It's funny how he becomes very rootable by the end when at the beginning they established that he wasn't the greatest son or father but put him into perspective with a lot of the other characters and I will take him as an antihero.

I think the reason Gi-hun didn't spend any of the money he was given is because to him, every note of cash basically stands for all the lives that were lost during the games. Every time someone died, cash was added to the prize money so I think he felt too guilty to spend any of it? Overall, GOD this show was a rollercoaster and so amazingly made. If it weren't for you and Paul I don't think I would have picked it up bc it's not usually my type of show !!!! So THANK YOU this was so much fun to watch with yall !!!

anthonytoo

Nah that makes sense but that's why I was wondering like - is it disrespectful for him to NOT spend it? since they all died to contribute towards it, i dunno lol. I enjoyed it too! I'm very glad you stepped out your zone and enjoyed the show!

For me Gi-hun as messed up as he is, he felt too guilty to use the money in his debts and daughter so he used it only on the promises he made to Sangwoo and Saebyuk (taking care of the brother and Sangwoo's mother). Maybe Gi-hun thought that he didn't deserve the money because he also cheated along the way. It was a great show and it shows that after all Gi-hun was not that greedy and Sangwoo was not that bad of a person after all.

the reason he didn't spend money is because there are a lot of dead people behind it. It’s like dirty money for him. And the reason why he came back is that he wants this game to stop, so that people stop dying and tell these VIPs that we are not horses. Yeah, maybe it will be good for him to be with daughter, but after the game he came out as a broken man and therefore does not want anyone else to experience it.

I read somewhere a theory about how in the first game (dakji at the subway) they had to choose from the two colors blue or red and that's how they get the position being players or the masked ones. I think thats very interesting and also makes me curious because if he goes again he didn't play dakji this time so no color choose but he did choose to die his hair red huh I don't know, I just hope they do a second season and explain better the story of the two brothers, really great acting love all the cast in this, but also sad that they won't be in season 2 because their all dead. Love watching your reactions, also waiting for the Teu-day in a couple of hours, so exited.

I think Junho, I think that was his name, the cop is still alive. He's another one we never saw a body and he fell in the water, and looked like he got shot in the shoulder area. So I think he and Gi-hun will end up working together some how next season. I thought the front man was his brother pretty much from the start, but never guessed the old man was the Host. That twist took me completely by surprise.

Amanda

oh theory, Maybe the triangles circles and squares are the contestants that chose not to come back. They're still going to be in a pile of debt and need money. The Front man did say to keep an eye on them.

Cintia Bryant

only 5 contestants didnt come back though. there r way more shapes than 5

im very late to this reaction but i definitely understand being frustrated with gihun for not boarding the plane bc i was screaming at my screen for him to go see his daughter when i first watched this 😭🤚 but the more i thought about it, gihun turning back to get his vengeance is VERY MUCH in character for him and everything he has stood for throughout the show and something i'm not surprised by. also, i feel like because they were keeping tabs on him this whole time, his family might be much safer and harder to track down while they're in the US! so in hindsight, he could be keeping his family a little more safe while choosing to go back.
