According to what I have learned from a video, North Korea military service is 10 years. That was the letter mentioned in the show. Hope that helps.

Happy to rewatch this drama with you. Also enlistment in North Korea is 10yrs and I don't think they are allowed any vacation leaves while on service unlike in South Korea.

Ngl i feel kind of bad that the only drama you weren't particularily interested in or wouldn't have been your choice, is the one that won. But hopefully you'll end up liking it. This is also my first time watching it and so far it's a lot less serious than i thought it would be, almost cheesy at times. But I'm interested to see how it'll continue

Best drama released in 2020 along side World of the Married imo :)) Highest rating in Tvn and third highest in korea cable history just behind The World of the Married and Sky Castle, respectively. Hope you'll like it!

The cringe and cliché romance in this drama is too much for me. but it is not like any of the dramas in the poll were interesting to me 😔 so I guess I will wait until the day you react to flower of evil or signal. But will that day come?😭 for future maybe you can make the poll list bigger (12 shows for example) and then you watch the trailers of the highest voted 4 or 5 shows and pick a show that you like best out of them

I hope Stranger(Secret Forest) will be added to next poll. Stranger focuses on corruption in the South Korean prosecution and police. Stranger Season 2 has ended 2 months ago. I still can't get over it 😭 Oh and it doesn't have a romance. There is a subtle tension between the two main leads, but they don't date. It's a very well-made drama with great actors!

My 2nd time watching. This show is so awesome. It just keeps getting better and better as you watch it. And by the way mandatory service in North korea is 10 years for men. In south its about 20 months. The guy that got his letter from his mom is young. They start their military young.

Even though It's not my favourite drama, the one thing I really like about this show is the focus on North Korea, it's so interesting to me, and not often used for dramas and such. I heard they did a really good job too, in portraying North Korean lifestyle. The comedy attempts sometimes catch me so off guard tho, like the tractor and the pig in the tornado? lol but all in all it's a pretty good drama

Hmm the tonal shifts from serious to comedic were a bit jarring. I was hoping they would go for a more dark comedy approach since the subject matter is kinda serious but I’m interested in how they portray life in North Korea so I’ll keep watching. And the accent is fun to listen to

According to North Korean defectors the life they portray in this drama is very accurate to what it really is like in North Korea. There are of course exaggerations as this is a comedy drama but still. I'm excited to see your reactions. It is a romance comedy so I'm not sure if it is totally up your alley but I really hope you will like it.

ok since you're watching this series i wanna just talk about north korea a bit. a lot of the things we're taught about north korea are false, life is definitely different there but i promise it isn't the creepy death hole america and south korea portrays it to be! you should watch "loyal citizens of pyongyang," it's a documentary i recently found and it's very very informative. there's a lot of unfair propaganda against them and strips north koreans of their humanity imo. i'm south korean so i believed all this as well but my friend has a north korean defector at her church who was forced to denounce her north korean citizenship against her will, it's a lot more complicated than we're told.

It can be comedic and over the top.. but it also has great subplots and characters .. definitely an enjoyable drama that hits a lot of interesting topics. It was talked about all over the world, even in NK, which is what made me Interested. Glad I watched it, and I’ll be rewatching it with you.

Damn I didn't know people hated crash landing on you like this. I thought the show was funny tbh, it was lighthearted and fun. After watching really intense dramas I like to watch something lighthearted which was the case with this. Right now I'm watching KAIROS, and if anyone is reading this comment I fucking recommend KAIROS, it's about a man whose daughter was kidnapped and everything goes to shit but he gets into contact with a woman living a month before the current time (The connection only works for 1min every day at exactly 10:33pm) and he tries to get her to undo the whole thing.

if you are looking for something darker, I strongly recommend SAVE ME, it's about this girl and her family who get trapped in a cult.

he is psychometric (starring jinyonug from got7) is very dark. The first few episodes won't seem it, but it got dark drastically during the second half and i was like 'oh shit'.

Regarding whether you'll like it. I try not to assume too much because when a lot of people were saying you might not like it's okay because of romance I definitely disagreed and I was happy to see you enjoyed it. I know a lot of popular dramas in Korea are super cheesy and romance heavy but in the last few years there have been an increase in ones that mix romance with a very interesting story. I haven't seen this so I can't say how it ends up but I don't want to discount you liking a drama just cuz there's a romance or it's more light-hearted you never know. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Also, I hope you add stranger (secret forest) to your list .. cuz that show was intense. They did two seasons already & I’m hoping for a third ! Amazing acting and just phenomenal cast all around .. the romance is basically nonexistent.. but the friendships are everything.

Yes me too! I thought it was such a good drama compared to other really cringy dramas and it was also a breath a fresh air from all the darker ones that have been coming out recently. It had a good balance of Comedy, romance and seriousness. Plus all the characters were fun to watch especially everyone in North Korea. And it doesn’t have the typical love triangle. Oh yes KAIROS! I can’t wait to watch it. I love seungyoon and the story seems really interesting.

Okaay I’m gonna pass this one ! I couldn’t finish 3 episodes for this one lmao. The story could’ve been great, the execution in the other hand..extreeeemly slow, overly romanticized, full of cliches. Felt like I was watching a teenage rom com but set in North Korea :/ Anywaaay maybe you’ll enjoy it and I’m just too critical ! Also I really enjoyed watching Extracurricular (for the 3rd time) with you, i’dle like to recommend you Save me, Stranger if you like thing more fast paced but with great storyline :)

I love this show! Finished it not too long ago, so I'm rewatching with you. It's a little slow in the beginning, but give it time. It gets really good! It definitely has some tear jerking moments. :) (If I'm allowed to say that)
