U would think I never seen this show the way I woke up from a good sleep just to watch this😂 and I’m sorry, I know it was a sad moment but every time the scene where sang tae and gang tae r walking with their mom gets me. Like let’s be real gang tae stopped walking on his own. she had him under the umbrella just fine, baby just wanted attention. I love how they showed the moms side, It shows the unshown love moms give to us that we may never know even happened unless we really sit and think (her taking them to the restaurant everyday because gang tae liked the food and her hugging him while he was sleeping) I mean we know she loved them both but it shows how a lack of just a simple hug or I love you can really make ur child feel unloved🥺.

This episode always makes me cry omg pleaseeee when his mom turns around and is talking to him when he’s sleeping 😭😭😭 I thought it was so sad seeing him feel like his mother always took care of his brother first, but even sadder when he realized she didn’t do that at all and she felt sorry that she couldn’t pay more attention to him. And him realizing this and like, just missing his mom and how she took care of him :(( idk that shit was just so sad. And I was waiting for this episode because I just love how moon young has this talent or ability to figure out how people work and see what they need to let go. And I think this is the exact moment where the show and gangtae and us, start trusting her judgment. Because the only reason she took that shawl from the woman was because she knew it was holding her back and it was a burden. Also yeah you brought up that she’s written all these books !! Lol. I think she has a really special ability to see the world and people differently because of her childhood and her outlook on life and I think that’s why all her books ring so true to themes that are close to us. And I think the simplicity of the children’s book format (also because she said herself that she feels like a child) makes it feel more poignant because it’s really simple, we want love and we’re sad and sometimes we don’t get that love and I think all her stories touch on those topics. Anyways, that was so long lmao why did I just write an essay ? Idk. But glad you’re still enjoying !!

I have to drop everything to watch these reactions even the prospect of sleeping. I still cry over all those scenes with Gangtae and his mum. I interpreted the scenes as him forgetting due to the bad memories being stronger as well. What I like about the way his mum is shown is that she isn't evil she's just a person who made some mistakes but ultimately loved both her children. The flashback of her apologising to Gangtae while he sleeps was a lot and really hit me hard tbh. Also Jaesu is so jokes him lying down next to gangtae like some kind of model for an art class never fails to make me laugh. He's a lowkey fave among the side characters for me.

I have to say that I love all the sound track for this drama, its so emotional, fitting and beautiful specially (AKMU) Suhyun's song lyrics are great , Sam Kim also as always shining with the vocals. Best OST for this drama.

Estherlynn Lubin

This episode was another emotional masterpiece😭😭😭 I was so very proud of her for FINALLY cutting off her leash. You asked why didn’t take her own advice before, well it’s because as she said the dog was tied down for so long he forgot how to untie himself, it’s how she basically was feeling. Hence why she couldn’t cut it the first time she tried in the beginning of the episode.

Maya

The way they just stand and stare at the end like wax figures always sends

CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXTRR hahaha i marathoned your reaction in a few hours🤣

Taisha Caldwell

I love how quickly you're putting these reactions out for us, Anthony. Like, I've only been able to watch the first one and half of the second one so far with how busy I've been lately, but now I get to binge when I'm finally ready. 😊👌

BaoziBang

Every comment no matter how I try to form it kind of spoils next episode so I will simply send you these 😭😭😭👍🏻❤️🎊

Rosie

these silent staring contests take up half the episode. i like the use of animations of her books as metaphors. its unique

I interpreted the scene's in the restaurant and the rain the same as you. I think negative memories are stronger than the positive ones. even though it's clear their mom wasn't perfect (no parents are) and maybe she did pay Sang-tae more attention it shows there are moments that Gang-tae doesn't remember or focus on to show she loved him too and was regretful that she couldn't be the best mom to him. it's so relatable cause memory is really like that. also you had me dying at the end scene, i think this is the longest stare-off since the one with the knife in ep 1 lmao.

Ok this episode it seams it was the “let’s redime every character”, the CEO, the mum... the mum part I specially didn’t like, if the kid felt like that it was because she made him feel like that. I get she was also having a hard time, but that is a separate issue, she really left gang-tae emotionally scared for all his life and I don’t like the “well you ain’t the only one with problems” thing they were doing here. I think it would’ve been better if he just forgive her for her mistakes and had closure like that, instead of making it seam like she actually wasn’t that bad.

Phani

I like don’t know how to feel about gangtae’s mom but like idk. Good ep, really interested to see what’s gonna happen between juri and the ceo

In the beginning she told him that negative memories stayed in your heart longer and more vivid, I think that’s why he forgot the positive things his mother did for him. I think he let himself resent his mother instead of fully processing her death, as soon as she passed he had to be mature and take the lead as guardian. In my opinion, I think he finally let himself grief and reminisce about how good of a mother he actually had. It was easier to let the negative emotions cover up his sadness when he was younger. It was what made him be able to push forward and be the guardian his brother needed.

Are you going to upload Alive on here? I couldn’t watch because of the time difference.l

I think the show did a good job of showing that you can have a whole bunch of confusing emotions when it comes to parents. You can't deny that there were things the mom did/said (that were wrong) that made Gangtae feel the way he does and he's still suffering from it, but villainizing the mom for it would not have been a very nuanced way of showing the pretty complex emotions Gangtae has for his mom. I honestly didn't see this episode as "redeeming", just diving deeper into Gangtae's guilt, anger, and sadness that he's been holding onto for a long time

Taty

I was just about to comment the same thing

mssmercedes

yeah I definitely agree that I don't think the message was that Gangtae needs to forgive his mom because she actually showed him care once in awhile. I think it was just highlighting how even though there was good stuff in his childhood he holds on to the bad stuff and it has a bigger impact on him as an adult than those few positive memories. It's much more interesting that way when there aren't totally black and white characters for situations.
