Gook-doo's character is definitely too much. He's clingy and acts like he has the right to tell Bong Soon what to do; like he's entitled to have a say in her business. I do like the actor, Ji Soo is cool, and he does a good job at playing a kind of obnoxious character. I love listening to your rants, as someone who has already watched this show.

I remember the first time I watched this, I didn’t have a huge issue with Gook Doo so it’s endlessly entertaining to see how much he annoys you. Honestly rewatching it through your reactions, you make some pretty good points about him. Honestly though the character that irks me the most is Bong Soon’s mom. She’s constantly rude and puts everyone down, ESPECIALLY Bong Soon and literally has nothing to justify her shitty attitude. Besides all that though, I’m really looking forward to more reactions!

Hahaha Your outrage with Gook Doo is hilarious... I think maybe you dislike him so much because you're not used to watching kdramas. It's a very common trope for males in kdramas to be a bit controlling, talking about the way the girl dresses or the things she should or shouldn't do. I'm not saying that's ok, but it is very common. Once you understand this is a cultural thing, and not a character thing exclusively, it's easier to see past that. Also, I always took his "toughness" as a side effect from the job; it's not that he isn't empathetic, but he's always a bit stressed out. He's focused on the practical things, not on showing emotion or joking around. So when I first watched this episode, I was super excited to see him coming out of his shell a bit and starting to show emotions he isn't even fully aware of yet. I do dislike Hee Ji, though. She consciously lies and flirts behind his back. She knows what she's doing, there's no excuse for it. I also hate the scenes with the mafia at the hospital...why do they have to be so disgusting? 😖They're not even that funny.

I've watched many kdramas and the overprotective male trope thing with Gook Do is annoying. In this case it feeds a bit into the plot. But he's not as bad as he could be. Older dramas are worse. I also do the.. "we could have just solve this issue here" thing but then I realize... "Nah we got 10 more episodes" it's a drama for a reason. Lol

I'm loving your reaction to Gook Doo. You made me chuckle 😂. Like others have said his type of character is quite common in kdrama although I'd say somewhat exaggerated with him. I certainly felt no second lead syndrome watching this and was on team Min all the way! Her mother I guess is also an exaggerated stereotype often found in kdramas. There is a huge cultural difference in family dynamics between the western and eastern cultures. As much as we try to be open minded and accepting of those differences, it still can be hard to swallow. I get annoyed by the amount of hitting we see in kdramas. Parents hitting their children, bosses kicking their employees in the shin, rich people slapping shop assistants around the face etc. I can't imagine people getting away with such behaviour over here (of course abuse happens). I've a 19 year old daughter whom I completely respect. You don't see any of that from DBS mother. She shows little respect to everyone including her husband. I wouldn't put up with it myself. Don't worry too much about Gook Doo, he gets to his rightful place soon.

It also sucks how the president does so much for Bong Soon lowkey, and it sadly all gets unnoticed or unappreciated by her. Like dude, if I had someone caring for me like that I'd be head over heels. Forget Gook Doo, who never paid her any attention all these years he had the chance.

The pipe is not really so random in Kdramas, it's actually a pretty big trope lol. You know how Americans in TV shows and movies use guns? The Korean version of that is pipes! :D

I really liked your reaction to this episode! You asked why the weird thug guys were calling the cat "Butterfly" so I figured I'd address that really fast: In Korean, "Butterfly" is 나비 - pronounced nabi. The man says something to the effect of "나비야!" ("nabi-ya!" it's a butterfly!) ((Then he changes it into singing "나비야, 나비야" which is a Korean children's song)) In Korea, people often called random cats (especially kittens) "나비" ... even though it technically means "Butterfly" ... I know that the translators translated it as Butterfly because he says the next part of the butterfly song afterward, but there could have been a note somewhere haha
