First Day of The New Year (Working Files, Tips, High Res) (Patreon)

Welcome to 2024! I hope you had a nice start into the new year. I've already said it on the Discord but I'm extremely thankful for all your support you've given to me in 2023! It's unbelievable to see how far this Patreon has come and I'm excited to see where it still leads us to. Thank you!

To start with a bang, I painted this New Years piece showing the girls on Hatsumōde, which is traditionally the first shrine visit after New Years Eve. It took about 12-15h in total. The sketch was done fairly easy as I prepared a good set of refs. Making the colors work and the Kimono patterns were probably the hardest and most time consuming parts.

I also experimented with Color Lookups for the first time in Photoshop, I love them! They basically work a bit like gradient maps in CSP... just better lol So you'll find a CSP/PSD file that is the general working file, and a PSD file that is just for postprocessing.
