Doing another Vibe Check here, this time on the power set I'm considering giving the MC, regardless of what story winds up replacing Chef's Kiss.

Basically, I've been kind of taken by this Celestial Grimoire concept I've read some stories using recently. And while I've had to puzzle out exactly how it works, I think I've got a pretty good handle on it by this point.

Essentially, this google doc has a TON of different magic/magic items across every fandom/setting you can think of:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wTlbwB1o3STt2TKzc5UbytCarS52hxXICYrRN6f2YLA/edit#gid=1981793094

The way the Celestial Grimoire works in practice, from what I can tell, is that every so many words in the story I'm writing, my MC gets 100 Celestial Points along with a 'pull' from the Celestial Grimoire. Currently considering making it one pull every 1000 words, or maybe two pulls per chapter instead of basing it on word count.

If the MC don't have enough points to buy the 'pull' or they don't want the 'pull', they pass on it and bank the points. So some of the pulls from the Celestial Grimoire might cost something like 600 points, and you can only buy them if you have enough points banked.

So essentially, over time the MC goes from zero to hero as the story progresses, becoming more and more powerful and out of context for the setting he's in.

This is the powerset that I have in mind for my next Story Poll, whatever that might wind up being, but I'm curious to hear what you guys think of it and any feedback you might have on it.

A good thing to keep in mind is that CG or CF stories aren't clad in iron. You can just your power of being an author to make the CG work however you feel is best for the story. Get a power you think is stupid ignor it. See a power that would make for good plot that's the next one MC gets.

That black guy

I'm down with an original character thing using this and making your own setting and characters evne if they're clearly pulling from other things to make your own setting or ideal kind of like your own original take on the worm type concept but with this in the background narratively
