The Dark Huntress, a medusa most foul, has turned this old shrine into her lair which she shares with her favoured ones - a pack of tainted goblins that can run on the walls and ceilings like insects.

The medusa lairs on the far side of the chasm, in a columned chamber that was once the inner sanctum of the shrine. Her goblin companions live across the bridge between her and the main entrance into the old shrine - a set of stairs carved into the side of the ravine that leads into the old shrine and then to the bridge that spans over to the inner sanctum.

I found it very difficult to get the whole "this is a ravine or crevasse" message across in this isometric map. I should probably have rotated the angle so that we were looking "down" the crevasse instead of across it.

You can download the map for your free personal use from the blog post at https://rpgcharacters.wordpress.com/2017/08/22/return-to-the-medusas-chasm/

(1) This might be just the map I needed for my game this week, sir, if I build up a bunch of jungle around it. (2) I know what you mean about isometric chasms, but FWIW the shape and sag of the bridge helped convey it to me almost immediately.

I love that the entrance is external, and that from those stairs you can see the bridge. I know if I used this map (which I probably will, now) that my players would try everything in their power to get across to the bridge from the entrance, risking EVERYTHING when they don't need to. Fantastic map!

I fully expect some parties to make the long trek around the ravine and then rappel down the cliff face directly to the inner sanctum because they decide from the beginning that the adventure will have them go there anyways and they won't trust the bridge.
