Hey everyone!

As I mentioned in my previous Patron only post, I've been working on a new bedroom set that I plan to release in June. I thought I'd share this sneak peek:

Creating mattress meshes is very tricky because the process of assigning weights is rather challenging. I've been testing this mattress in-game, and I'm happy to say that the animations are looking good! I am also super excited about this canopy bedframe.

Next month I will be sharing the new version of the Sol Kitchen! 1st of May also happens to be my birthday, but I will try to schedule the release to still happen on that day rather than the following day.

Bits from the scrap pile

Sometimes, the objects that I work on don't turn out the way I intended. I thought I'd show screenshots of some items that I created this year, but ended up tucking away in my scrap folder because I wasn't satisfied with the result.

First up, some Vanity Nook clutter:

My original idea was to include more clutter in the Vanity Nook set. I ended up excluding most of it from the final set, mostly because I wasn't happy with the textures and the cohesion of the set. I was super irritated at this set of candles - I couldn't get the light mapping to work.

Next, this decorative bassinet:

I was so excited about the latest game update. I really, really wanted to believe that EA would update the bassinets, which would allow us to create custom ones with the intended functionality (instead of decorative ones). Alas, that didn't happen. I still like the idea of this bassinet, but I'm not a fan of the wicker texture here. I struggled to get it to work in this context.

Finally, this door:

I was so excited that I (kind of) got the wall cutout to work, but the animation of the door opening looked so odd. If you zoom in, you can see some weird spaces between the door and the door frame. I still love the idea of a build set with various round door designs, but unfortunately I haven't been able to create something that I was happy with.

And I think that's all for now! Wishing you a great week ahead,
