I love hex-crawl exploration in Fifth Edition. It's a lot cooler when both the players and the Gm have no idea what's in store. I had kinda a cool idea recently (well, cool to me at least) where Abby didn't have a set map. But instead, you can only reveal what's on the hex you're on. There'll be points of interest, etc., but otherwise, it's totally random and generated the game goes.

The rules will have random charts, etc, but otherwise... flip the hex and see what's up.

I might even add stickers for the points of interest. For example, if you roll a random encounter for a "ruined city" you add it to the hex permanently. that way, everyone's version of Aberranterra will be completely different.

Yeah, this is cool. Given the apocalyptic idea, the randomness is a nice touch.
