Pillar Island Campaign Preview (Patreon)
Content
So this is what I'm working on today for this month's silver exclusive (in lieu of Buckler): Pillar Island.
Basically, Pillar Island is a campaign idea I've had for a long, long time--hell, probably since 2011, right when I really started getting into board games (and eventually, back into D&D).
Here is the basic concept:
Each player in the campaign plays a leader—their character. Similar to the show Lost, the characters find themselves stranded on an island. Except that the island has kind of a Hunger Games thing going on. The characters and their henchmen (who they find) are pitted against each other. Each day that passes the playable space on the island shrinks.
The island has mysterious locations that the characters can explore, too. Abandoned lighthouses, hatches in the ground, wrecked pirate ships, the works. The locations do double-duty, offering up goodies for the characters to discover, or even as future defenses against raids from other players.
The entire thing uses Fifth Edition rules. I'd like it so the whole thing is automated, so it doesn't require a GM. Just knowledge of the game itself. It's likely I'll strip out a lot of unnecessary stuff, too, and just keep in what's necessary to survive.
But yeah, this is what I'm working on today. It's a fun project—and probably a lofty goal—but hey, a game like this has been my dream for some time and I think the best way to do it is through the 5e OGL.
Let me know what you think and what you'd like to see down in the comments.
Note: this will only be available for Patrons of Silver level or higher. So if you'd like the finalized ruleset and you're not silver yet, be sure to upgrade your account.
