A preview of the next SSEC one shot I am working on. When is it coming? I dunno lol hopefully soon. I think it might be longer than the other one-shots, mostly because I am trying to practice my writing ^^;

Melody’s Heart

(Takes place sometime after the events of “An Unwanted Guest”)

It was a rainy day. Melody always liked the rain, it reminded her of happier times, when she had a trainer that cared about her enough to cradle her to sleep when the thunder and lightning frightened her. She was looking out the window, at the rain falling down with their pitters and patters, when her mate, Zick, sat beside her. She didn't think she could say that she loved him… even after all these years together. She just… had an inexplicable fear of loosing him, the same way she lost her sister. She didn't think he loved her either. Actually… she sometimes thinks that he disliked her, and begrudgingly puts up with her for their trainer's sake. She remembers the time where she could say that she was falling for him, when his charm made her swoon and his presence alone made her heart ache. But… that was all in the past. After their kits disappeared, he never was the same.

Silence.

He didn't look at her… or even acknowledge her presence. Melody looked down at her paws, fidgeting. She wants to say something, but, he scares her. She wanted to please him, so he wont leave her, but she cant give him what he wants the most. She… just didn't want to mess up again. She didn't want him to glare at her with the same hate filled eyes that her sister does.

Melody opens her mouth to say something, but it comes out choked, scared. "Z-Zick, I-"

"I want another kit."

"…" She stops talking, and falls silent.

"Melody. It has been years since the kits disappeared."

"I know"

"I want to rebuild our lives, Mel." There is a softness to his voice, Melody recognizes it as sadness "I want us to be happy again"

"I know..." 

That.…will never happen. Not only was Zick thinking about only his happiness, Melody knew that once she had another kit, those devils will come take them again. And that will crush both of them. Harmony isn't here to take the blame this time… it'll be all her fault.

"Isn't Doki enough…?" She asks, eyes on her fidgeting paws

"I love Doki. But. I wasn't their for her childhood. You know this."

She did. Zick was young when the two had their first kit, barely out of childhood himself. And, a Them being taken was hard on him. Instead of the blistering anger and regret Rick, her sister's mate, showed. Zick grew more silent, and cold. He went looking for them, every day, until loss of hope made him give up. This only worsened when her sister's kits came back, with no sign of theirs. The boys didn't even know that Volt was taken as well… This made him neglect their only other kit, until much later in her life, when it was too late for him to form a bond with her.

…Zick believes that everything will go back to how things use to be once they have another kit, but Melody knew better. It'll only hurt him more when they are taken as well.

"I… I am not ready yet…"

"Melody. Look at me."

The pudgy cream colored eevee takes a shaky breath before gazing at her mate. His striking light blue eyes were hard, and she had a inexplicable feeling that something was wrong."I'm Tired, Melody""I know""I want another kit, Melody""I.…" Melody's voice cracks "I know, Zick" She trembles, tears fall down her face and she looks away "I… I can't"

"… Then." He says "I'll find someone who can""!" She looks up at him as he turns away "Z-Zick!"Not looking at her, he says "I'm done wasting my life for you""I-I'll do it!"

"…Do what?""I'll have another kit with you!" She doesn’t want him to leave her".…""Z-Zicky…?"

Zick's back still turned from Melody, he quietly says "Don't do this."

"Do… what?" Her voice soft, she doesn’t want him to leave her. She DOESN'T want him to leave her.

His head whips around, "Don't turn me into the bad guy here!"
