Charge Up Front and Transition Update (Patreon)
Content
From Defined Types to Tags
Like the character system, the rest of the game now uses gameplay tags instead of classes or other defined types. This switch to coding things purely generic will make adding future content a lot easier.
Breeding Session Overhaul
This is an important one. Perhaps the biggest problem for games of this nature is shear number of animations required. The math doesn't lie, the old breeding system would have required more than 1000 animations, and that doesn't even take into account elite Nephelym or any of the new ones I plan to add. The solution is to break breeding sessions into reusable positions, which comes with another benefit. You will be able to choose the mate that "gives", the one that "receives", and the position itself. There will still be three controllable phases.
Standardized Heights
With the above changes to breeding, the need for standardized heights came about. Animations need to work across all bipedal characters, so arbitrary heights aren't possible. I wanted to preserve the size differences between Nephelym, so six static sizes were made. Normal, large, and huge are unchanged and based off of the current Foxen, Bovaur, and Vulwarg respectively. Massive started with the current Titan's size, but was then reduced 15%, whereas small and tiny are completely new. Having standard sizes, and reusable animations, paves the way for Nephelym variants to be of any size.
Breeder Creation
Leveraging the new character system, you will soon have control over the appearance of your human breeder. This won't represent the final system, but it will be a good start.
The code for this transition is nearing completion. Right now it's in the testing phase, and after that I will focus on adding breeder creation. Once that's in, the second preview will be ready. Please continue to bear with me during this transition, I know it's boring, but these changes will enable me to build a far better game in less time.
Enabling Charge Up Front
Lastly, it's been a long time coming, but I will be enabling charge up front. This will not affect existing patrons, but please be aware. You may read more about Charge Up Front here.
