My son is wanting to get into Pokemon. I know ABSOLUTELY nothing about it. How about 8pm Central time on Wednesday the 20th? I can show you guys some videos that are coming up and we can talk about Pokemon if any of you know about it? I want to make sure it's ok for my kids. I will figure out the best video hosting method and put up a link later tonight or in the morning.

Oh boy, that takes me back! Whilst I can't remember the rules of card game Pokémon, I can absolutely assure you it is not only safe for your kids - hit necessary for their development. Also strongly recommend GameBoy Pokémon

Well, I can't say much about Pokemon, but I would suggest you seek "Avatar: The Last Airbender" as a great show for kids and adults. You can find it in NetFlix, DVDs and Amazon Video. It is a great tale with nice teachings for the kids.

Pokemon is one of the few things that has a special place in my heart. I was a kid in the late 90s and enjoyed collecting and playing the TCG, playing it on GameBoy (sometimes with friends and family), and watching the shows when they first aired on TV. I traded the cards and always hoped for some rare card in every pack I opened. I've since gotten out of it, but it was a huge part of my childhood and is one of the things that help me relate with my generation. I don't know everything about the modern Pokemon; I'm pretty sure it's just as it was when I was a kid but with more stuff. I'll be happy to explain more on Pokemon tonight.

Destin my 6 now 7 year old has been into Pokemon for about half a year and I'm hooked now too. We've watched the show on Amazon Prime and it's full of friendly competition and cooperation and seems to have a great message overall. We were so confused reading the rules and figuring out how to play the card game but then discovered Pokemon TCG Online http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/play-online/download/ (The Card Game). It has great tutorials and you can stock up on online cards via the QR codes in the physical card packs. It seems well put together and has parental settings to protect the kids though we always play together. I'd enjoying joining the hangout and sharing/learning more!

I just started playing the card game again as an app on my iPad. I used to play it all the time in my elementary-high school days but haven't owned any cards since then. I'd be happy to be in the chat about it. When I was in early elementary school I had some trouble with basic math so my dad bought the game and played it with me as a teaching opportunity. We would continue playing together for years to come and I loved spending the time with him. A lot of kids just collect the cards or play with made up rules, but if he's going to spend money on it I'd encourage him to play with real decks and rules. It's a lot more fun that way. ;)

My son loved Pokemon when he was little (he's 24 now) and he recommends it as an aid for using math and learning strategy. He said to tell you he has the game board (not the fancy one) and a bunch of first-generation cards, and your son is welcome to them if he's interested.
