Can you imagine being a Navy Seal, A Medical Doctor, and an Astronaut?  Speaking to Chris and Jonny was quite the honor.  I started out thinking a Navy SEAL was all about war and weaponry, and ended up realizing being a SEAL was more about teamwork and humility.

Infinite Craftsman

I love the title, it’s basically “click bait” for people that love this channel🤣

This should be pretty cool!

Anonymous

Nice to see good folks making the quantum leap in good faith.

Mrgunsngear

Lieutenant Kim is a legit bad ass for sure. Impressive to see all he's done given his age 🇺🇸

Space? Kick-ass Military? *Click*

Great video. Thank you.

Destin, thank you for the baseball! Is the nuclear submarine series finished? I don't want it to be!

Anonymous

A new fan of both Chris and Jonny. The expression of humility from two people who are so successful in so many ways is inspiring.

Anonymous

Awsome! If only there were a bunch of guys like Kim and the others out there these world should be a little better....

Michael Lloyd

I think this is my favorite YouTube video ever. "I started out thinking a Navy SEAL was all about war and weaponry, and ended up realizing being a SEAL was more about teamwork and humility. " yup... same here. Thank you. PS - if you want to to "see a metaphor" for the ISS, catch sight of it rising in the west after sunset. As it seems to arc toward you it gets very bright (sun reflecting off of it), and looks like a brightly shining star, because it is.

What a fantastic video Destin!

Got my baseball yesterday, love the channel and all you do to make us smarter everyday, you have mine and my families continued support, Thank You!!

Steven Payne

I'm so proud of these totally honorable human beings. What a treat to get to listen to them and be reminded that there are many honorable humans still, on this planet! Thanks Destin and kudos to you for the much needed story line! I just wish everyone could see this!

My father was Chris Cassidy’s classmate at the USNA!! This was such a cool video to watch, and I learned a lot. SEALS have gained even more brownie points in regards to respect in my own mind; adding to what was already there. Awesome job Destin.

VitAnyaNaked

It was incredibly interesting for me to watch the video, although I am somewhat far from this topic. It was a cool excursion around this museum .. all this military equipment, exhibits, it's great and exciting!

smartereveryday

There's more coming. How to make oxygen... how to detect leaks, how to go to the bathroom. It's very interesting stuff. Even how to make pizza!

Are baseballs still being shipped out? I haven’t received one yet.

Anonymous

Edit: The baseball came today! Thank you Destin! I was also wondering about the statuses of the baseballs. My son has been asking about it. Will we receive a shipment notification once it is sent? Thank you for all these great videos. As you mentioned, supporting you on Patreon wasn’t for a transactional reason. Just asking out of curiosity. Thanks again!

Go Navy!

Sean Daggett

Got my ball! Now the long process of studying Destin's signature for hidden personality traits.

Anonymous

Given your experience going to Antarctica and aboard a US Navy submarine, I fully expect it won't be long before you're conducting some of these interviews in person aboard the ISS. :D

Thank you for the baseball, arrived in the UK end of last week. Very much appreciated. This is one your best yet! ISS for a Nobel....it’s so obvious how can such an omission stand? Well said Destin! Looking at the criteria necessary to nominate an individual or institution for the peace prize, I have a suspicion that your contacts book is probably filled with such people and institutions. (Regrettably, mine is not.) May I humbly suggest that you use the channel to push for a nomination according to the procedure, as follows: https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/facts/nomination-and-selection-of-peace-prize-laureates/ Edit: It’s been nominated for this year already. “Norwegian parlamentarian Mr Karstein Eidem Lovaas nominated the International @Space_Station for the 2020” . I still think that adding the weight of the Smarter Every Day contact book could only help its cause, This amazing collaboration of Nations really deserves to win.

Hey Destin, Really love your work. Your attitude and mind set you teach. Great vid.

I noticed a few dead pixels on the ISS on-board footage from Chris Cassidy at 27:15 and 35:52. After a little digging it seems to be cosmic rays colliding with the camera internals to change the semi-conductor arrays and cause dead pixels. I found this very interesting, and not something that we on earth have to worry about because the atmosphere absorbs a lot of those rays.

Anonymous

I really enjoyed how the segment of Chris reading your questions from the ISS was so casual and not a big deal despite that being unbelievably awesome. Awesome video Destin, keep it up!

Astro

This is seriously my new favourite video. What makes me sad is that unfortunately Australia isn't going to space at least not for a long time. The only things on my bucket list is going to space and last but definitely not least making someone's day. Love the videos Destin.

I’m glad you posted this video this weekend. I was kind of getting bummed out, but this really cheered me up.

Excellent, informative video. The Seals have now embraced diversity and revised their Ethos to be more inclusive.

I recently lost a friend to cancer who was a USNA graduate, Marine, 1st Recon Commander, and through his career trained and worked with pretty much every special forces unit in the U.S. and many abroad. He was absolutely the most humble guy. We went on a trip together as part of a team flying a 76-year-old airplane from Seattle, WA to Normandy, France for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. The thing I will remember most about him is that no job was too big or too small and every single person he interacted with was respected and valued for their contribution. He made you feel incredibly special, he listened, and he helped everyone get through the stress and anxiety. Your video about SEALs and the sorts of people those guys are just brought it all back. Thank you. Semper Fi, Mike.

Awesome video Destin!! This hit home at the right time for me, I'm struggling with a lot right now and this has inspired me to work better with others, improve in my teamwork abilities and become more harmonious with others in life. I'm so pleased you pointed out Chris's name in cyclic, that was one of the first things I noticed on the spacesuit. I found it to be such a peaceful milestone, for an American SEALs' name to be written in cyclic under the Trident.

Anonymous

Where are the dead pixels? I tried to find them. At 27:15 there's a cut. Is it before or after that? And at 35:52 it's the 3D animation of the space station. Thanks.

Loved this video. Your additional scenes of the museums and general information was a really good way to show us the complexity of this endeavor humans are undertaking. Another great episode and the reason I like supporting this channel and what you do!

Anonymous

Great video Justin ! I can personally attest to the SEAL ingrained "team" concept as I worked with one ! .

Some might say other centered is a component of Agape. Other centered, by choice and sometimes personal cost. That is the example of the Man from Nazareth.

GO NAVY full speed ahead. I did 15 years and was on a gator freighter for three deployments and we had Seal Team's as well during a couple of deployments for Bosnia and again doing Pirate Ops off the coast of Africa. They were truly the most humble guys and a joy to have had the opportunity to service with. I like Derek's take on Skill and Luck for astronaut selection and it was awesome to see those who understood that while hard work and skill is needed luck and humility play the deciding factor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LopI4YeC4I&vl=en

Loved the video, keep up the good work Destin!

It always makes me happy to see Astronauts from all over the world working together to further expand our knowledge and capability in space. Putting everything negative aside to work for a greater good. GREAT episode of SED!

Heroes all. Thank you Destin!

I got my baseball about a week and a half ago, and I'll be honest; it was the reason a became a patron. I've been watching your videos for years, and actually bought binaural microphones (because they're awesome) thinking that at some point I could be a contributor to your traveler videos. This video took me on an emotional journey. I came of age in '01, and at that point, with no draft, no direction, and a family history of too much military service, I went with a major in what was clearly an obvious choice: filmmaking. Almost 20 years later, I'm currently a pastry chef, worked for a couple of years as a store designer for a big alternative clothing chain, and I've taught and competed nationally in Lindy Hop (Swing Dancing for everyone else). Your knowledge of what people don't know, but want to learn, is awe-inspiring.

Commander_Dash

Finally got around to watching your video Dustin. Very well put together as always and very informative. As a side, I received my baseball the other day and I couldn't be happier. It's awesome to be part of something bigger than myself.

You always make awesome videos and I get learnt every time;) The baseballs wicked cool

Fantastic video Destin! The HD quality of the video was amazing! You keep just getting better and better - and making me smarter!

I'm new to Patreon, watching this video for the first time. I'm thrilled to learn about the Navy SEAL MD Astronaut. I couldn't stop grinning throughout the video. I know there is a lot you have to edit out; have you thought about writing a book (with more information) about some of the more popular subjects/videos? I am having so much fun with your videos, I'm considering upping my sponsorship. Why couldn't public school be this much fun?

As a former member of the special operations brotherhood, we have the ultimate drive to make ourselves better for others, and know helping other people is the bigger picture. Cassidy is a true pillar of what the military used to be, and always striving for better, is not a cocky way of thinking, but knowing how to put yourself last for others and the better future. Truly an icon.
