Hello everyone! ❤️🏰❤️

"Another major update already? Really?" - YES! Today marks the release of yet another major update to the Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K texture pack! It includes 170+ new textures, covering both the UI, environment and more, this time focusing primarily on Kokiri Forest, Castle Town and Hyrule Castle (including the courtyard). The update has many other improvements as well, like improved textures for the Japanese translation and a new 4K UI option- Check out the full changelog down below!

1.7.0a Patch Changelog: (2022-12-04): Updated Citra to version 2330, which should fix crashing issues with AMD Graphics Cards. The "60 FPS Edition" has also been updated to this version. The UI overlay utility has also been updated and now only requires 1 monitor to be used!

This was posted in the previous updates' post as well, but as a reminder (or if this is your first time using the Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K texture pack), Here are the default key bindings for using the bottom screen with your controller;

  • D-Pad Up: Free Cam (First Person View)
  • D-Pad Left: Ocarina
  • D-Pad Right: Item Slot 1
  • D-Pad Down: Item Slot 2
  • Select: Items Menu
  • Left Joystick Button: Gear
  • Right Joystick Button: Map

You may need to set these bindings again on your own controller in case Citra does not recognize it automatically. Simply double click the input button for each respective button and press the corresponding button on your controller and you should be good to go!

This should make the game much more enjoyable, especially if you're playing on a TV where you definitely don't want to be switching around between different controllers mid-action.

New textures for Kokiri Forest!

Kokiri Forest has received more remade textures, this includes higher quality ground textures, new leaf textures on Deku Baba enemies and high-definition hanging vines. This also affects textures in Lost Woods and inside the Great Deku Tree, so it's a larger improvement than it might seem at first!

New Castle Town + Temple of Time Textures!

Hyrule Castle Town has been upgraded with new textures, such as the ground tiles, stone and brick walls, roof tiling, window panes and more. This also includes new textures for the exterior of temple of time, which now looks much nicer as well.

Overhauled Hyrule Castle + Courtyard Textures!

Hyrule Castle and the courtyard have also been overhauled, with new textures for both the terrain and environment, but also for the castle itself and the surrounding details such as gates and soldier chainmail.

Further Overhauled Tunics!

For both Adult and Child Link, both the Goron and Zora tunics have now received a similar treatment to the Kokiri Tunic from the previous update. Other details have also been improved, such as Link's belt having been remade.

New 4K Tall Grass!

Tall grass has been completely remade as well, and now actually looks like the original tall grass- only in 4K. I think it turned out really nice, let me know what you think!

Overhauled Epona and other horses!

This is another major overhaul which was long overdue, but finally the various horses- including Epona, have been retextured to look much nicer than the previously used texture. The fur is much shorter, which is more realistic and looks much less jarring. And the eyes are also vastly improved over the previous version. Yee-haw!

Improved Japanese translation textures thanks to work by Tomoki Sato ("LINK")

Tomoki Sato (a user who goes by the name "LINK") has generously been helping with translating most of the UI textures over to Japanese! The first batch covering most of the textures has been added in this update, with more getting included in future releases. Please follow them on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/LINK_genkaiya

(WIP) New UI display in 4K!

I have figured out a way to display UI elements on the main screen using some visual trickery! It is not a mod and has some quirks, however in practice it does provide results which should be sufficient for those wanting to display their status and info on the main screen, like in the N64 version. See this video on how the effect looks in-game! At the moment, this method requires a powerful graphics card and at least two monitors, with at least one of them being capable of displaying an image in 4K (the display itself does NOT need to be in native 4K, but the graphics card should be able to output 4K to the monitor by changing a configuration setting in the graphics control panel). Detailed instructions are provided with the pack, feel free to give it a try!

And many, many more miscellaneous changes.

Lots of less noticable things have been altered or fixed in this version, like updated textures for bombs, colored pushable/pullable blocks in dungeons, butterflies, feathers, bomb bags, the flags on top of Hyrule Castle and much more!

Phew, I believe that was all this time around. I might come back and add something I might have forgotten later!

And like before; Glorious 60 FPS! (Still in beta though, so read carefully!)

Re-post from the previous update:

This is arguably an even greater upgrade available in Zelda: Ocarina of Time 4K than any of the textures. The 60 FPS patch is a first-time feature for Ocarina of Time 3D, and makes the game display in a buttery smooth 60 frames per second instead of the usual 30. This makes the game not just nicer to look at, but also makes it more responsive and reduces input lag. However, this feature is still in beta and has a few workarounds (you need to perform some special actions in certain instances to avoid the game from softlocking, for example. Instructions and more information is provided with the download!) Since the 60 FPS mode isn't quite ready for prime time yet, it's included as an optional special version which you can use if you're feeling adventurous (and don't mind doing a little bit of manual work!) The instructions are, like stated previously, included with the download. Have fun! :]

Selecting your game region (if you're using the PAL/European or Japanese version of the game);

All you need to do now, if you're using the European version of Ocarina of Time 3D, click the "Run this if you're using the PAL (European) version of the game.bat" file inside the texture pack folder. Done! It'll now work great with your version of the game. Easy, right?

How to enable MXAO (ambient occlusion) & DoF (Depth of Field):

This means you can now experience glorious self shadowing around objects, which looks really great with OOT's fantasy art style. Try it out by doing the following:

* Set your game view to "Single" in Citra.

* Enter fullscreen in Citra.

* Press the "HOME" button on your keyboard, this will bring up the ReShade UI.

* Check the "MXAO" box in the list of effects.

* Go to the "OpenGL" tab in ReShade and check the box next to the depth buffer in the list with the highest value (it should be a very high number while all others are 0). This number will change constantly, but don't worry it's supposed to do that!

* You're done. Have fun!

Enjoy!

There is a 4K version available, if your computer can handle it. It's a large file, over 7GB so beware of that before you download it! The 1080p version is smaller in file size, but is lower resolution. You can download both and test which one works best for you, if you want! :)

Please feel free to try it out!

(Only available for use with the Citra 3DS emulator, the texture pack does not work on real 3DS consoles).

You can find more information about my HD texture pack here.

This is an old version and is no longer maintained! Please download one of the newer versions instead!

I am only able to make things like this thanks to your support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do what I love!

Hello the texture pack is very good! but I would like to ask if there are still textures coming to the German language pack?

henrikomagnifico

Hi BigTobi! Yes I am still working on the german translation, however progress is slow since it is not my native language and I have so many other things to work on as well. I hope to add german textures in one of the upcoming versions soon!

henrikomagnifico

Hi Caleb! Yeah this should work through RetroArch, however I'm not very experienced with that program so I'm not sure exactly how the process works (however others who are have told me it should work)

Just booted this up for the first time. It's so good! Thank you!

when i open it, it just stays black then doesnt open

i found logging into google before downloading works if you have trouble

- What exactly is the 4k UI Overlay Utility for and do I need it? - The “You can find more information about my HD texture pack here” link does not work. Thank you

henrikomagnifico

Hi xml! The 4K UI overlay is an optional overlay preset which can be used inside of the free program OBS to be overlayed on top of the game window to display things from the bottom screen on the top screen, like in the N64 version. This includes things like health, magic, rupee count, equiped items etc. It requires OBS and some specific settings to be setup, and there are some quirks with it still. However it can look quite good and can definitely be helpful when playing the game in the "Single screen" layout! See this video on how the effect looks in-game; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qD_vM7976E&t=1s

It basically makes the game UI feel like n64 version of the game when in single screen mode. If u recall, the DS version doesnt have UI elements on the gameplay screen. Its all on the bottom map screen. this tool changes that

this doesn't work for me. When I press your .exe file as you shown and select the OOT game rom, it crashes and Citra closes down.

Hey there, amazing work! I've been trying to download the OOT 4K 1.7 from your Google Drive link but the download keeps failing half way through for some reason. No issue downloading 1080P or MM 4K. Any chance you have a mirror? Thank you!

henrikomagnifico

Hi Mike! I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with the downloads. Have you tried downloading using another browser? If that also doesn't work, try using jDownloader and see if that lets you download everything; jdownloader.org/download/index If that doesn't work either please let me know!

Is it a known issue that when using 60fps you cannot climb through tunnels? Will there be a fix for this? You need to go through a tunnel pretty early in the game and the game just stops responding to all input as soon as you climb through one.

henrikomagnifico

Hi Steven! This is a known issue with the 60 fps patch, but it can be worked around quite easily. See more info about this bug and others and how to avoid them on the texture pack info page here; https://www.henrikomagnifico.com/zelda-ocarina-of-time-3d-4k

ZorLink21

Why dont you just make the texture pack a folder so it will work easier because the application wont work

Anonymous

hello from france, what version used citra for 1080p texture custom ? and thanks

henrikomagnifico

Hi ZorLink! The texture pack is fully portable so it's already in folders by default. You can simply copy the contents of the "user" folder to any existing installation of citra and that will also work!

Anonymous

The application wont run for me in the 4k pack it says the 2DL2.dll is missing and the 1080 pack opens then immediately closes again

Anonymous

What folder would ypu copy the files into on a different citra install to make it work?

henrikomagnifico

Try re-extracting the texture pack to your desktop again, preferably with either 7zip or Winrar, and see if that fixes it!

Anonymous

Didn't see these instructions anywhere in the folder. Do you have more detailed instructions on how to install everything manually since the auto-install file doesn't work?

Anonymous

hello henriko any recommendations to find the right rom? I downloaded a European one but apart from the fact that in compatibility it says "not tested" your texture pack doesn't work for me :( Thank you!

Anonymous

Could you make the original gerudo sign insted of the Master quest one?

Anonymous

It's been few days i try to download the 4K texture pack but he always show me "Network error". Is it possible to put a Mega or 1Fichier link to download it?

henrikomagnifico

Hi Gom! That's strange, have you tried downloading using a different web browser, by chance? For example Edge or Firefox, if possible. If that still does not work, see if it's possible to download it using a program like jDownloader instead; https://jdownloader.org/download/index

Anonymous

Hey, I use Citra through RetroArch will this texture pack still work properly?
