Update 2022-04-01: An android / iOS version has now been added!

Update 2022-03-01: The download link has now been updated and should be working again!

Hi all Patrons!

I'm happy to announce that the long overdue 1.1.0 update for Pikmin 4K is finally here! This is a large update to the texture pack, and with it comes many changes and new features.

Introducing a new "Post-Processing Edition" and "Standard Edition"!

Just like many of my other texture packs, Pikmin 4K now has a Post-Processing Edition and a Standard Edition! What are the differences? Well, it's in the name! The Post Processing edition includes more visual effects like Ambient Occlusion, Bloom, Tone Mapping, Depth of Field and more. And it's all 100% customizable! This is thanks to Ishiiruka Dolphin made by Tinob, which I've spoken very highly off before. The Standard Edition includes fewer visual effects, but in turn supports more PC configurations, including MacOS and Linux computers, and offers higher performance and increased stability over the Post-Processing Edition. Feel free to try out both and see which one you prefer!

PS4 & PS5 Controller Support!

This is something which should've been included in the texture pack long ago, but for some reason never was. Well, now it's finally here! There are now default PS4 and PS5 controller presets included in the pack, which you can easily load in the input settings. Then, simply start the included "DS4Windows.exe" program and sync your PS4 or PS5 controller to your PC through bluetooth or with a wire, and you're good to go! And of course, it supports all the necessary functions and other improvements from previous updates you've come to expect, like using the touch pad to move the cursor and more.

MacOS Full Support + Improved Instructions!

This was also not included in previous versions, but finally is! There are simple but detailed instructions included in the texture pack for MacOS users (both ARM M1 Macs and the old Intel Macs are supported). The installation is super simple, and takes less than a minute. Mac users, rejoice!

Improved Wii Support!

The support for the Pikmin: New Play Control! (Wii) version was lacking in prior updates, but it's finally received the love it deserves. Feel free to use one of the included controller presets and play the Wii version of Pikmin 4K with either a regular controller (Xbox One, PS4 or PS5 or even JoyCon / Switch Pro Controller!) without requiring any additional setup!

Installation:

On Windows; Simply extract the .ZIP file somewhere on your computer and start the game using the provided custom version of the Dolphin Emulator (named as "Pikmin 4K.exe"). All settings should be preset to my optimal settings, but you are of course free to tweak them so the game looks however you prefer! MacOS, Android and Linux have their own installation guides provided in the download.

You MUST provide your own .iso ROM file of Pikmin, it is not distributed here. Let me know if you experience any bugs or issues!

The 4K version of the texture pack is available to all you Patrons starting today, with a 1080p version available to everyone for free on my website in two weeks from when this post was published! Like always, beware before downloading it since it's a large file, over 9GB!

Enjoy!

(Only available through the use of an emulator, the texture pack does not work on real GameCube or Wii consoles).

You can find more information about my HD texture pack here.

This is an old version! Please go to the post for the latest version instead!

I am only able to create things like this thanks to your support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do what I love!

I think I loaded this correctly through Dolphin. When it loads up it indicates that textures were loaded in 15 seconds; however, I don't get the same "pikmin 4K by Henriko Magnifico" that I do for the Zelda games! Does that screen exist? I'm wondering it the pack is loading correctly!

2023-02-03 18:13:09 Hi Brian! This version of the texture pack does not actually have any "Made by Henriko" text in-game at all, so it can indeed be a bit tricky to know whether or not the pack is working as intended or not! In the next version I'll make sure to add such a bit of text on the title screen to avoid further confusion. Now, you should be able to tell if the pack is working by the high resolution textures on the title screen, as well as the text being very clear. If you go into the Dolphin Graphics Settings > Advanced tab, there is an option to toggle the custom textures on or off. Try toggling that and see if it makes a difference!

Curious, why the need for a custom dolphin compiled version? Also, is it not possible to use custom textures with the regular Dolphin build?

Hi Matt! The only reason for the custom Dolphin version is to make the installation and usage as easy as possible for the average user. Both the Standard Edition and Post Processing editions also come pre-configured with customized default settings to provide the highest visual fidelity / performance for the majority of the users. All of my texture packs also work in regular Dolphin / Citra as well, of course, and can be easily installed on your own installation of either as you please, if you prefer that!

I think the link is down :(

I didn't know I could play Pikmin on my phone, let's take a look, thanks!! 👀

Texture Nexxus

Had these issues with an older version and on a previous windows install (reformatted last week) but running this I VERY frequently get a "GFX FIFIO: Unknown Opcode (0xc3 @0000026CA78F3FFE, Preprocessing - Preprocess=false" error. This is the third time I have run into this on a individual windows Install, this time I was at least able to finish the tutorial level but it is still random when it decides to crash. at the very start of a level. (including the tutorial level) I dunno if this is because im on a Zen 3 CPU or a 2080ti so its a bit of a more rare config but...yeah this is sadly pretty much unplayable unless the emulator decides to behave itself. (I've yet to even be able to start level 2)

2022-10-17 03:48:14 Hi! I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with the texture packs, but thanks for reporting it! I would like to ask you a couple questions about your setup so that I can figure out what the cause could be. 1. What is the version of the texture pack you're playing? The post processing edition (Ishiiruka-Dolphin) or the standard edition? What region version of the game are you playing, European (PAL) or North American (NTSC)? Are you playing using the default settings? If you try disabling "Prefetch Custom Textures" in the Dolphin Graphics Settings > Advanced tab, does the issue go away then? Thank you!
