Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K 1.3.0 Patreon Release (Patreon)
Content
Hi all Patrons! Today marks the Patreon release of the largest update to Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K so far (previously branded as Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D HD). It includes over 100 new textures, covering both UI, environment, characters and more. It also includes a 60 FPS mode- for the first time ever in Ocarina of Time 3D! Please see the rest of the added features below;
This update is massive and adds a ton of new 4K textures, and it also includes a 60 FPS patch for the first time in Ocarina of Time 3D. Other improvements include tons of configuration changes, improved multi language support, a default keyboard controller preset, fixed the depth buffer for MXAO and Depth of Field effects and other general bug fixes plus much more!
This was posted in the last update's post as well, but as a reminder (or if this is your first time using Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K), Here are the default key bindings for using the bottom screen with your controller;
- D-Pad Up: Free Cam (First Person View)
- D-Pad Left: Ocarina
- D-Pad Right: Item Slot 1
- D-Pad Down: Item Slot 2
- Select: Items Menu
- Left Joystick Button: Gear
- Right Joystick Button: Map
You may need to set these bindings again on your own controller in case Citra does not recognize it automatically. Simply double click the input button for each respective button and press the corresponding button on your controller and you should be good to go!
This should make the game much more enjoyable, especially if you're playing on a TV where you definitely don't want to be switching around between different controllers mid-action.
4K User Interface!
Yes, this is huge! The whole user interface is being remade from scratch in native 4K. Why? Because upscaling simply isn't enough for something like the menus, icons and buttons. Especially since they're large and a lot of the time up in your face constantly. I'm trying my best to keep the menus to the original art style, with a sprinkle of the N64 original thrown in as well. It's looking really nice so far, but it's still a W.I.P and further improvements will be made in subsequent updates. So far nearly all the item icons in the game have been remade, with gear icons and buttons being remade right now. Expect the entire UI to be 100% retextured soon!
Kokiri Forest has been overhauled!
This includes walls, pillars, ground textures, buildings and more! It also includes other minor textures like ladders, fences, tree crowns, bridges and more!
4K signs!
All the default signs have been remade from scratch in 4K and look stunning. They also hide a little secret... can you find it?
HD character eyes!
The eyes of many NPCs have been overhauled and look much nicer than before!
Enhanced shield reflections!
The shield reflections have been enhanced and are now 8 times the original resolution.
New tree bark textures!
The tree bark has been reworked after feedback from users. This new one is even higher quality, too!
Fixed triforce on the Hylian Shield!
I remember there was a "mod" for Ocarina of Time 3D that did just this. See, the triforce on the Hylian Shield is really stretched in the original and looks pretty bad. I've replaced it entirely with a new HD triforce that's not squished. It's all in the details! ;)
Improved Link textures!
Link's textures have been changed so the ears now look normal and not absolutely disgusting (I'm sorry but they didn't look good before, I apologize to everyone who used previous versions!)
Just kidding, of course. But these new ones do look much nicer! Link's leather straps are now also in 4K, which they weren't before.
Glorious 60 FPS!
This is arguably an even greater upgrade available in this update than any of the new textures. Special thanks to Molenin for making this feature on their own, and letting the rest of us use their cheat code and special build of Citra which makes all of this work. The 60 FPS patch is a first-time feature for Ocarina of Time 3D, and makes the game display in a buttery smooth 60 frames per second instead of the usual 30. This makes the game not just nicer to look at, but also makes it more responsive and reduces input lag. However, this feature is still in beta and has a few workarounds (you need to perform some special actions in certain instances to avoid the game from softlocking, for example. Instructions and more information is provided with the download!) Since the 60 FPS mode isn't quite ready for prime time yet, it's included as an optional special version which you can use if you're feeling adventurous (and don't mind doing a little bit of manual work!) The instructions are, like stated previously, included with the download. Have fun! :]
You find the video tutorial here!
Selecting your game region (if you're using the PAL/European or Japanese version of the game);
All you need to do now, if you're using the European version of Ocarina of Time 3D, click the "Run this if you're using the PAL (European) version of the game.bat" file inside the texture pack folder. Done! It'll now work great with your version of the game. Easy, right?
How to enable MXAO (ambient occlusion):
This means you can now experience glorious self shadowing around objects, which looks really great with OOT's fantasy art style. Try it out by doing the following:
* Set your game view to "Single" in Citra.
* Set your resolution to 10x in the Graphics Settings in Citra.
* Press the "HOME" button on your keyboard, this will bring up the ReShade UI.
* Check the "MXAO" box in the list of effects.
* Go to the "Advanced" tab in ReShade and check the box next to the depth buffer in the list with the highest value (it should be a very high number while all others are 0). This number will change constantly, but don't worry it's supposed to do that!
* Enjoy!

Enjoy!
The Update is available to all you Patrons here, with a public release in two weeks from when this post was published!
There is a 4K version available, if your computer can handle it. It's a large file, over 7GB so beware of that before you download it! The 1080p version is smaller in file size, but doesn't look quite as nice. You can download both and test which one works best for you, if you want! :)
Please feel free to try it out!
(Only available for use with the Citra 3DS emulator, the texture pack does not work on real 3DS consoles).
You can find more information about my HD texture pack here.
Download it here!
I am only able to make things like this thanks to your support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do what I love!
