Hey all :3 I've been wondering for a while if I should change the names of the existing tiers. When I first made the page, Minecraft item tiers were the first thing that came to mind. However, I realize that naming scheme might not be the most fitting or relevant for my page, so I wanted to ask everyone's opinion on the matter.

There's a few options that I've been considering. They are:

1. Threading-themed: Just The Tip -> Deep Dive -> All the Way Through
2. Generic/penetration: Just A Tip -> A Little Bit More -> To The Hilt
3. Sword-themed: Sheathed -> Rattling the Sabre -> En Garde!
4. "Medal" Metals: Bronze -> Silver -> Gold
5. My characters: Tentacle -> Hyena -> Fox
6. Keep tier names the same.

I realize that ultimately the names of the tiers probably don't matter too much -- but if it is something that I'm going to change, I figure I should do it sooner rather than later. So please let me know what you think. ^^

I'll also include an "other" option, so you can pitch your own ideas in the comments if you want. :>

Honestly to me, it's whatever you want to do! Tier names are fun :) In my personal opinion I think the threading and penetration themed ones are the most relevant, but I also think that their names are a little bit long; it'll get annoying for you to reference them by name when they have these longer multi-word titles. So then we go down to the next option, the character names. What happens when you want to add another tier? I suppose if you're expecting to finish another character before you ever want to add a fourth tier, that naming convention works, but would it feel odd to you to have three tiers and four characters? If that won't bother you, then I think the character name option is the best practical choice!

You're right about the characters ^^ I've been thinking that they're the most appealing option, mainly because it'd allow me to have little animated GIFs of them for the tier icons. As for adding another tier, I think I'd probably be able to have a fourth character finished before then. And even if I didn't, then I'd still be able to use the upcoming character as a tier name anyway. So no matter what, I think it'd work. :D

I already gave you my opinion, but it's worth restating for voters. Tier names without a clear hierarchy such as animal names can be confusing. For instance, if I'm in Fox tier and I read that new rewards are coming to Zebra tier, it's going to take some time to commit to memory whether Zebra tier is higher or lower than mine. I already couldn't tell you whether Stone or Iron is higher without referencing the front page. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond may be dull and unoriginal, but it's for that reason that they're easy to understand, since their positions are universal. I voted for the first option because it's a compromise between originality and practicality and, I admit, because I'm biased.

Upon further reflection, I realize there's more freedom to add new tiers when the names are not beholden to a set list. You may be able to expand your options by combining the threading and penetration names.

Maybe if I ended up doing characters, then they could be organized by size? I realize that could inhibit my tiers in a way when it came to adding new ones, as the next character would always have to be larger than the last. But it would go something like Tentacle -> Fox -> Hyena -> Zebra -> whatever comes after that (Maybe Elephant?) OR, I could mix the classic idea of medal metals WITH the characters. That way it wouldn't have to be in size order, but people would still be able to know how they rank. For example: Copper Snake (there WILL be a snake eventually) Silver Hyena Golden Fox Platinum Tentacle That way I could still use the characters, but they have a material hierarchy that makes sense.

The highest voted one has the issue that it doesn't obviously denote a raise in quality. The others are fine so I voted for everything else.

That second idea is brilliant, and I'm ecstatic over the mere promise of a snake.
