This week I started making more environmental assets, as well as did some tests, and cleaned up some current assets.

I started with finishing the textures for the new monsters, so now they shouldn't be as plastic looking.  They should also be a little more dirty.

I did some more tests now that there are new versions of substance painter.  Still not exactly what I'm hoping for, but its getting better.

I spent a lot of time making new assets, specifically mushrooms.(Not the most exciting thing, I know!)   While I don't consider my style to be super unique, I do think its not realistic enough to use photorealistic assets, but not cartoony enough to use cartoon assets, so some of this stuff I need to make myself.

I wanted things in parts of the forest to look more magical, and so I started with making some mushrooms.

The material on the mushrooms can have its color and amount of glow changed, so these mushrooms should give me more then enough variety.

They all have LODs, so can go from high resolution to super low resolution.  Some of them I could even scale up and use as platforms if I wanted to.

The rest of the time this week, I spent getting the latest build pushed out.  So check that out if you're interested

As always, I'd love to hear any comments, questions, etc!

Mushrooms is a wonderful idea! Good variety indeed. And they can be potentially incorporated into gameplay, if needed. Hell, you already the hallucinogenic effect ready))

As far as the NSFW textures go, less is going to be more. There isn't a lot of texture to those sorts of materials, mostly just color and wet highlights. The reason your current version looks like flour or dried dough is because there's too much fine detail and not enough high-gloss highlights. Maybe executing that is easier said than done, I've never used Substance :P Echoing what everyone else has said: the mushrooms look fantastic!

this, try turning up the fractal angle setting (I don't know what your program calls it, and I might be talking nonsense to you... its 4am here) a low value makes things look matte and flat colored, a higher value gives them reflection/gloss, turning this up to a really high setting on something with a high poly count makes it look wet... again, I might be making no sense, and I might be preaching to the quire.

The mushrooms look cool, maybe some strange looking flowers are something else you could add to give the forest a magical feeling.
