In this section of Chapter 6, we look at Russia in the throes of its great coup - the Treaty of San Stefano, which was dictated to the Ottoman Empire in March 1878. The Treaty granted Russia extensive rights over the Turks, and Britain - Disraeli - simply could not allow it. British prestige was at stake, he declared.
