Maaaaan this took a while to set up, but now that I finally got to the good part - actually making the freaking animations - and I'm feeling confident that I can handle this department.

Some of you asked me if I wanna go with mocap or hand animations. The answer is definitely hand made, as anything too realistic would clash with the low fi vibe of Haggard. I wanna stick to simple and visually effective work.

The video features a basic idle and walk animation which I intend to use for the guards in particular. I'm also planning to make a special transition between standing and walking to give the player a visual cue as of when the guard is about to move.

As far as visual character goes, I wanted this walk cycle to resemble to confidence and cockyness of an armed guard, so I put extra emphasis on shoulders turning and minimal body leaning and head movement.

You can see it works with different characters too, and it is also set up to allow clenched hands for holding equipment. Although I tried to keep their rigs compatible, I will most likely have to make separate animation sets for males/females in order to cover for the different body proportions, but I think it will be well worth the extra effort.

I also want to have different animation sets for civilians, nobles, elders and such, but for now I just want to get the bare minimum required to test the basic systems of the game.

Anyhow, let me know what you guys think!
