Oh, and by the way: Did you notice that the actor who plays Jaglom Shrek - the alien who tells Worf about his father - is James Cromwell? He took over multiple roles in various Star Trek episodes and most prominently the human inventor of warp drive technology in the movie "First Contact": Zefram Cochrane.

There is a really interesting angle to Data and Bashir's meeting but I can't elaborate on that right now. A fun fact is that Sid (Alexander Siddig) was a fan of both TOS and TNG before getting cast on DS9. He used to rent TNG on VHS from his local video store! I wonder how he felt being a TNG guest star?
