I had asked in my Paddington video last week if it was worth it to watch the second film as I had enjoyed the first so much. I woke up today and decided I couldn't wait for an answer as I was hooked on the joy and love that the first brought and I was hoping for much of the same in the second. I put it on, and as it played I thought to myself how these two movies may well be some of the best kids movies out there. They are movies that I would show to my children (if I ever have any) in an instant. But they are not just kids movies as well and I think saying that a movie is a 'kids movie' can make adults turn their heads away from what is actually just a really great film overall. Paddington 2 is one of the most joy-filled movies I have ever seen. The innocence of Paddington and the kindness within him makes for beautiful and humorous moments that happen again and again. While the movie is predictable, the plot isn't really what the movie is going for. Paddington 2 just wants you to be happy for the duration of its runtime and to that it does well. I don't think I stopped smiling once and by the end, my eyes were watering so hard I couldn't see the screen!

The directing to is great again by Paul King. The camera work is grounding to Paddington so we see much of the world from his low level point of view. The colours of this movie as well are much more pastel and soft which left me with the impression that Paul King is a fan of Wes Anderson. The CGI for Paddington is incredible and I never once thought about how he actually isn't real. So yeah, overall this movie is a perfect feel good movie that keeps its message of kindness and joy firmly at its centre throughout the entire film. While it is a 'kids' movie, I have no reason to see why adults would not enjoy, or maybe even love more than kids, this movie too.
