Mini Review #85: The Princess Bride (1987) (Patreon)

Inconceivable! This movie is so amazing how is that possible. I think maturing is understanding that a movie called The Princess Bride is actually one of the best adventure comedies ever made. Everything about this movie just gives you a smile from ear to ear and there were so many moments that made me laugh out loud. The characters are all so memorable yeet simple. Some may say the simplicity of the characters makes the movie bad because there is no depth to them. I would counter that with two points. The first is that each character trait is incredibly defined in a way that makes it easy to understand a characters motives while still making them feel like they have a personality. The second would be who needs incredibly deep and complicated characters anyways! There is a time and a place for that but come on, it's a movie called The Princess Bride. Besides the amazing and memorable characters, there are so many lines that are either incredibly iconic to downright hilarious. From "You killed my father, prepare to die," to "There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world," it feels like so much of this movie is quotable. The comedic timing is also phenomenal whether it is with the characters or at the world at large. They just don't make movies this fun anymore.

There is so much more I could talk about from the music's interaction with the story to make it even more comedic and dramatic to the actual incredible action. But yeah, if you want a seriously fun time watching a movie (that isn't very long mind you) then this should be top of your list!
