I watched The Final Cut version of this movie as it was the version most websites said was the best. Crazy that there are like 3 versions of this film, all of which probably have a different thematic meaning. Anyways, what did I think of this Sci-Fi classic?

THIS MOVIE RULED OH MY GOD IT IS ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL SCI-FI MOVIES I THINK I HAVE EVER SEEN. From a purely technical standpoint, the cinematography and directing is honestly some of the most gorgeous I have ever seen in any film ever. Imagine classic Noir meets Corporate Cyberpunk and that is what Blade Runner gives you. The lighting and framing of shots is nothing short of breathtaking and every 5 seconds there is a shot that makes you go "WOW". The music as well is such a powerhouse. We got that beautiful 80's synth but it is slow and stretched out which made my ears fly to heaven by how atmospheric it was. I swear I floated up to my ceiling like 8 times just listening to this score. The world building as well was phenomenal and L.A. in the distant future of 2019 (funny it is the past now) felt so realistic, dirty, grimy and immersive. There was so much detail in every second of film and it suck me in and didn't let go until the credits finished rolling.

Also, what is up with that unicorn thing. If you haven't seen it than I won't spoil but I am confused and intrigued. Will be doing some digging on that.

This movie took a few years and repeated viewings of different versions to grow on me, but I like it a lot now. The visuals, often reminiscent of Close Encounters (and FX created by the same guy, Douglas Trumbull) were way ahead of their time in an era where everything was brightly lit in most films. Sean Young is photographed like a silent film star and is STUNNING in this. And... the sequel is just as good, if not better.
