Mini Review #46: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (Patreon)

Roughly translated to "You Only Live Once" this movie made me want to climb the highest peaks and yell into the void below with triumph! Such a charming, happy, and beautiful movie about the difficulties of balancing life as well as the necessity to do things and be with people who make you happy. It's a road trip movie, and one of the best I have ever seen. There is so much heart and charisma between our three leads, who manage to make every interaction feel so organic. I believed that the three of them were friends for years. The humour as well, was done very naturally. Nothing to big or elaborate, all the funny antics came from the characters just being themselves. Some of the scenes are so beautifully done, one in particular had me grinning ear to ear for about 5 minutes, and the movie balances all this beauty with well handled moments of reflection.

It's a movie that is super easy to access (at least here in Canada) and uses a lot of English so if subtitles aren't your thing then this is probably the lightest they will ever get. I would highly recommend this movie if you want a fell good time. It is not the best movie in the world, but it will make you smile and laugh the whole way through. I think this one is particular as well would be a great intro into Bollywood as it is easy to access due to the language constantly switching from Hindi to English. Who knows, maybe if you enjoy it, you can access a world of film that is rich in history and style!
