I didn't know what I was getting into when I started this movie as I had only ever heard of the Nicholas Cage version. If you know anything about that version at all then you will know that I was not prepared for the serious and suspenseful nature of this film and I loved it! I loved all of the creepy and uncanny artwork hidden around every scene which you start to notice more and more as the movie slowly tells you its secrets. It reminded me of "Midsommar", or should I say that "Midsommar" reminded me of this movie as it came out first. I also loved the beautiful Scottish scenery. From the small towns to the rolling hills overlooking a vast ocean and beautiful sunset, I always felt cozy, yet isolated in this beautiful location. I would love to, one day, watch the Nicholas Cage version if only to compare it to the original. If I ever do that though, I'll probably need to have a beer or two to get through it...

I love this movie!!! It has a certain dreamlike quality to it.. the songs add a lot to that feeling, as if you're hearing somebody singing sweet perversities in your dreams. Indeed the musical aspect was a completely unexpected factor but made the film that much more wonderful and powerful.

Back when I worked for the Scottish tourism board, I came across a spoof of our advertising campaign, featuring footage from the Wicker Man! The video's called Visitscotland parody if you're interested in watching it!
