Jumping back into Westerns today with Sergio Leone's film and what a great movie it was. While I think I enjoyed The Good, the Bad and the Ugly more in general, there was a lot to love about this one. The pacing was so slow and methodical. Even when characters were sitting and doing nothing, there was something happening. The way Sergio Leone is able to craft an engaging story with minimal dialogue is outstanding to me and his visuals, framing, and characters are all able to tell as much story as dialogue ever would. The score as well is OUTSTANDING! I don't think it reached the same heights has The Ecstasy of Gold (but I mean what can), but it did contain a piece of music that I thought was the most emotionally resonate in this whole Spaghetti Western quadrilogy.

Add The Magnificent Seven followed by The Seven Samurai which inspired that film.

Oh yeah and Sam Peckinpah with The Wild Bunch which may technically be a Western but more of a 60s revenge or should I say rage flick. It also sends you down the Sam Peckinpah Rabbit Hole but I'm getting ahead of myself. 🤣😅
