If I were a kid watching this movie, I would have disliked it as it is slow at times, scientific, and philosophical. Luckily, I am not a dimwit child anymore (at least not as much) and so this movie ruled so hard. I loved how Contact teetered on the edge of faith and science in ways that combined the two instead of separating them.

The camera work was absolutely incredible and some of the transitions went harder than frozen block of wood... I feel like that's pretty hard! The famous mirror running shot was such a treat to behold within the context of the film and even though I had seen that shot before, it still blew my mind.

This movie felt a little like what Don't Look Up was trying and failing to do at times. Where Don't Look Up continuously attempts to hammer away messages of faith and politics to the extreme, Contact handles these subjects with care and a grounding that feels actually true to life compared to the screaming humour of Don't Look Up.

I loved this movie!!

I have always enjoyed this film's scenario of contact and humanity's response to it. Sure, it is a work of fiction, but it is very believable at the same time: I can easily imagine this kind of scenario playing out in the real world.

If you enjoy reading, you should check out the original novel written by Carl Sagan. It is significantly different from the movie that it shouldn't seem redundant, and the ending is even trippier and deeper than the one in the film. Give it a look.
