Oliver fact: Oliver Reed (played Proximo) died during filming. His scenes were completed by CGI-ing his face onto another actor. He was a legendary drinker (plenty of youtube clips of him drunk on 70's talk shows). His final hurrah was in a bar in Malta where he outdrank 5 sailors, beat them all at arm wrestling, and then his heart exploded. The bar was subsequently renamed: Ollie's Last Pub.

Caesar fact: Originally, "Caesar" was the name of the first emporer of Rome, Julius Caesar. He lived from 100 BC to 44 BC. Subsequently, all emperors of the Roman Empire called themselves Caesar, thus it became a title. The German "Kaiser" and the Russian "Tsar" stem from this word as well. In the beginning of this this movie, however, you see Marcus Aurelius as emperor, a.k.a. Caesar. He lived from 121 AD to 180 AD - more than two hundred years after Julius Caesar. And he actually had a son named Commodus and a daughter named Lucilla.

To be fair, Caesar was never Emperor. Octavian (Augustus) - Caesar’s nephew and posthumously adopted son was the first Emperor.
