Aliens (1986) is a masterpiece of its own. It is very difficult for a sequel to match the greatness of an original, but James Cameron (arguably) pulled this off several times, with Aliens and also Terminator 2 (1991). If you want more films directed by James Cameron, definitely go for The Abyss (1989). This film has a great story and impressive special effects, from just before Terminator 2.

I actually fell asleep the first time I watched this. I wasn’t used to “slow burn” movies yet. Now when I go back and watch it again, I realize it’s kind of a masterpiece. Aliens is great as well but for different reason. And I actually kinda liked Alien 3 as well.
